Beschreibung

"Practical Guide to Behave for Python Testing""Practical Guide to Behave for Python Testing" is an authoritative and comprehensive resource designed for quality engineers, developers, automation architects, and technical leaders seeking to master Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) using Behave in Python environments. The book begins with a thorough exploration of the principles and motivations behind BDD, including an incisive comparison with other methodologies such as TDD, and offers practical guidance on adopting BDD practices within Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD workflows. By delving into the nuances of Gherkin syntax, Behave's architecture, and feature specification best practices, readers are equipped to write maintainable, collaborative, and living documentation that bridges the gap between business and technical stakeholders.Progressing beyond fundamentals, the guide covers advanced engineering techniques for modularizing step implementations, leveraging fixtures, and handling complex state management. It addresses real-world automation challenges, such as integrating Behave into sophisticated CI/CD pipelines, orchestrating multi-service and distributed architecture testing, and extending BDD with browser, mobile, and IoT automation tools. Readers gain actionable strategies for optimizing test environment configuration, managing dynamic test data, isolating dependencies, and ensuring robust error diagnostics—empowering teams to scale BDD practices to enterprise-level demands.Emphasizing sustainability and innovation, the book offers deep dives into topics like reporting, traceability, security, compliance, and governance—crucial for regulated industries and large organizations. It identifies common maintenance pitfalls and anti-patterns, and provides effective solutions for refactoring large test suites, automating BDD asset management, and ensuring auditability. Concluding with a forward-looking perspective, the guide surveys trends in BDD tooling, open-source contributions, and hybrid testing strategies, equipping readers to evolve their testing ecosystems in step with modern software delivery.

What is a meteor or meteorite? A meteor is a small body of matter apparently from outer space that upon entering the Earth’s atmosphere resembles a streak of light, what we normally call falling stars. A meteorite is one of these that successfully hits the ground and sometimes other things, including people, buildings and animals!
Until 1803 most scientists regarded falls of meteorites as absurd and fantastical. As well as impossible. This was until the massive fall onto L’Aigle in France of thousands of meteorites on April 23rd 1803. Previously on November 11th 1799 there had also been a massive meteor shower comprising thousands of meteors that was seen all over the Earth. This is now known to be the Leonid meteors whose falls have diminished since. The Leonids come around every November, usually near the beginning of the month. Funny how this is a peak period for UFO sightings! That was accepted meteorites. Then you have such things as Black Comets. Black comets are extinct cometary nuclei which no longer create outgassing. No tail is visible. They are black and difficult to see in space unless they are passing celestial bodies. Even these seem apparently normal when you look at everything that has come crashing down, sometimes heavily and sometimes lightly, from the skies. Amongst the true meteorites and possible fragment of black comets, and possibly even antimatter, and even large blocks of ice, what then are the rest of these? That the majority of UFO sightings might actually be misidentified meteoric or cometary bodies. The list of incidents from the sky including numerous near misses. Are they meteors, comets or UFOs or a combination or misinterpretation of all of the above?

A spellbinding exploration of the human capacity to imagine the future

Our ability to think about the future is one of the most powerful tools at our disposal. In The Invention of Tomorrow, cognitive scientists Thomas Suddendorf, Jonathan Redshaw, and Adam Bulley argue that its emergence transformed humans from unremarkable primates to creatures that hold the destiny of the planet in their hands.

Drawing on their own cutting-edge research, the authors break down the science of foresight, showing us where it comes from, how it works, and how it made our world. Journeying through biology, psychology, history, and culture, they show that thinking ahead is at the heart of human nature—even if we often get it terribly wrong. Incisive and expansive, The Invention of Tomorrow offers a fresh perspective on the human tale that shows how our species clawed its way to control the future.

Energy powers every aspect of modern life. From the moment we wake up and turn on the lights to the devices we use, the transportation we rely on, and the industries that fuel our economies, energy consumption is deeply embedded in our daily existence. However, few of us stop to consider the true cost of our energy habits—both visible and hidden. While energy provides convenience and economic growth, it also carries significant environmental, social, and economic consequences that often go unnoticed.
One of the most overlooked aspects of energy consumption is its environmental impact. The majority of the world's energy still comes from fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas. Burning these fuels releases greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane, which contribute to climate change. Rising global temperatures lead to extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and disruptions to ecosystems. Additionally, extracting and transporting fossil fuels result in deforestation, oil spills, and water contamination, all of which further degrade the planet.
Beyond environmental concerns, energy consumption has a direct impact on human health. Air pollution from power plants, vehicle emissions, and industrial activities causes respiratory diseases, heart conditions, and premature deaths. Communities near coal mines or oil refineries suffer from higher rates of illness due to exposure to toxic chemicals. In developing countries, millions still rely on wood, charcoal, or kerosene for cooking and heating, leading to indoor air pollution that is responsible for millions of deaths each year.

Before I Begin: A Manifesto on Humanity's Reckoning and the End of the World is not just another book about apocalypse. It is a bold philosophical and scientific exploration of the greatest threats humanity has ever faced—and the hidden patterns that link our past extinctions to the dangers of today.
From the cataclysmic asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs to the looming possibility of nuclear war, from supervolcanoes and gamma-ray bursts to engineered viruses and runaway artificial intelligence, this manifesto examines how fragile our existence truly is. But beyond the science of survival, it confronts the uncomfortable truth: that corruption, inequality, and the failures of the global system may be the gravest threats of all.
In powerful, provocative prose, Hatem Helmi weaves together history, philosophy, and cutting-edge science to reveal a vision of humanity standing on the edge of transformation. Will we collapse into chaos, or will we seize the chance to build a more just and resilient world?
For readers of Yuval Noah Harari, Stephen Hawking, and Jared Diamond, this book is both a warning and a manifesto—a call to awaken, to question, and to act before it is too late.
This is not the end. It is the beginning of a reckoning.

This is the story of the Universe including life as we know it.It is a book of origins, prehistory and history … arranged in Three Testaments to honour the supreme achievements of the talented men and women who have been unravelling the mysteries of the cosmos, evolution, human antiquity and world history. Composed in biblical-prose format, the volume presents the facts of science and, as best as possible, relevant truths of history. The scientific facts rest on proven principles gained by observation, instrumentation, insight, intelligence, reason, and the application of physical laws and the formulation of harmonious, logical models. In defining the latest wisdom, they spell out the fundamentals of the physics of the wonders of the Universe?regarding which ever more exact details are improving all the time.It is testimony and eulogy, in praise of high scholarship and logic?the ultimate Enlightenment. Testament 1 tells the story of the Universe, the Stars, the Solar System and Planet Earth. Testament 2 examines the Origins of Life on Earth. The Third Testament treats the story of humanity as it proceeds to the present day?humans enriched with intelligence and a genetically-promising future. Yet, despite the successes, the story concludes with an Epilogue contemplating “How did it come about that Homo sapiens in the course of 160,000 years manage to get itself into the current mess?”?referring to the amalgam of authoritative religions, undemocratic governments, reckless overpopulation and irresponsible worldwide waste on land and ocean.
