Synopsis

Hitched for the Holidays After a pupil's prank forces Anna Mae Leland to take shelter with a widowed sheriff during a blizzard, she loses her teaching job—but gains a fiancé. Josiah Miller needs a mother for his twin daughters and Anna Mae needs to protect her reputation. This business-only arrangement means the recently jilted Anna Mae need never risk the folly of love again. Josiah has long admired the town's spirited schoolteacher from afar. In close quarters, she's an ideal friend and helpmate. Yet Christmas's arrival brings a gift neither dared hope for—a second chance at love and happiness…but only if they'll forego what's practical and follow their hearts.

To answer the question completely and thoroughly "What does it mean to be saved?" is impossible. Why is that? I can think of a least four reasons. There is more yet to be revealed about what it means to be saved. Dear friends, we are already God's children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is (1 John 3:2 NLT).Those who are saved cannot see clearly yet.Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely (1 Corinthians 13:12 NLT).The benefits and the extent of God's salvation are beyond what those who are saved can understand. That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him (1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT).For those who are saved, there is a personal, private, and sometimes secret special relationship between them and the Lord Jesus. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable (Hebrews 4:13 NLT). Then why attempt to answer the question "What does it mean to be saved?" Because there is much has been revealed about being saved. Because there is much being experienced by those who are saved. Besides, being saved is good news and there is no reason to keep good news a secret. All Scripture quotations, unless otherwise indicated, are taken from the Holy Bible, New International Version®, NIV®. The Prosperity Gospel - How...

    Thomas Storck

In the United States, the Prosperity Gospel’s tenets, spread widely by many Protestant preachers, have creeped into the Catholic Church. Where did the Prosperity Gospel come from? And how has it embedded itself so deeply in this country?
In this book, Thomas Storck demonstrates the deep roots that the unrestrained desire for gain has in this country. He argues that the exclusion of serious religious discourse from American public life has led to the public square being emptied of all transcendence, reducing every aspect of social life to material gain: politics, the economy, education, science, the arts, and even religion itself.
How many of we Americans’ ordinary activities are undertaken solely for worldly comfort—with no reference to anything beyond this life, or even to our society’s common good? How deeply have we ourselves been affected by the allures of riches and wealth?
Here is a book that will expose one of the heresies that most vilely distorts the teachings of Christ: the Prosperity Gospel. Our treasure can only be found in Heaven, not on earth. We must know the culture we live in that affects our daily living so that we can strive to be children of light and protect ourselves against the temptations of our times so that His will can be done on earth, as it is Heaven.

    Digging Through the Bible -...

    Richard A Freund

A “masterful and eminently readable” journey through the fascinating insights and revelations of Biblical archeology (Publishers Weekly, starred review). Many of our religious beliefs are based on faith alone, but archaeology gives us the opportunity to find evidence about what really happened in the distant past—evidence that can have a dramatic impact on what and how we believe. In Digging Through the Bible, archaeologist and rabbi Richard Freund takes readers through digs he has led in the Holy Land, searching for evidence about key biblical characters and events.  Digging Through the Bible presents overviews of the evidence surrounding figures such as Moses, Kings David and Solomon, and Mary the mother of Jesus, as well as new information that can help us more fully understand the life and times in which these people would have lived. Freund also presents new evidence about finding the grave of the Teacher of Righteousness mentioned in the Dead Sea Scrolls, and gives a compelling argument about how the Exodus of the Israelites may have taken place in three separate waves over time, rather than in a single event as presented in the Bible.
