Sinossi

"In this powerful collection of poems, Rekha Gore captures the raw journey of a soul burdened by pain, misplaced trust, and the fight for survival. In giving everything to others, she lost herself—until she uncovered the greatest gift of all: her own strength.Through heartbreak and healing, she built a new world, leaving behind the shadows of the past. These poems are a voice for anyone who has ever doubted their worth, a call to rise, to reclaim their power, and to become the hero of their own story.Your journey matters. Your healing begins the moment you choose yourself."

The language of Poetry is an art that most of us attempt at some point in our lives. Although its commonplace exposure has been somewhat marginalised in today’s often fast-paced lives we all recognise good verse that can empathise with our thoughts or open us up to experience new things in new ways, to better understand and to enjoy the many strands of our lives.
But finding a starting point can be overwhelming, even off-putting, so in this series we offer up our Top 10 classic poets, who brim with talent and verse, on a range of subjects and themes that we can all enjoy.
In this volume we collect together poets who, by the difference in the colour of their skin, were treated with such disdain and racism that it is difficult to believe that poetry of such tenderness, beauty and authority could exist.

A companion to her gorgeous and powerful multimedia collection Pullman, A Domestic Lookbook converses with the text of Malinda Russell’s A Domestic Cook Book, the first known cookbook published by a Black woman in the United States. McFarland’s poems and art pieces attempt to counteract violent acts with creative output. As McFarland herself puts it, “each act of making thwarts violence’s aim to destroy.”

Enjoy the beauty of the changing seasons from a new perspective with this stunning collection of poetry! This poetry collection is, indeed, about seeing God in everything. Throughout this book, the nature of the changing seasons is observed through the eyes of the poet and her relationship with God. Enjoy the tranquility of ‘Waterlilies’, the hustle and bustle of ‘Christmas markets’ and the fleetingness of ‘Time’, amongst other seasonal-based poems. Take the time to see nature from a different perspective, as the author takes time out of her life to comment on the world around her.

Sometimes we just want the best. But that involves choices, judgements, decisions. And that all depends on our feelings, our mood at the time.
Even more so with Poetry. Would we like a little more pathos, or love, or humour with that? Can we only choose one Keats? And ’If’? Surely Kipling wrote something else?
So difficult to decide. This one or that? Is it easier to choose your fifty favourite poets or your fifty favourite poems?
The argument can go on forever, certainly a few days. However what we can all agree on is that poets have a way with words that almost all of us respect and admire and can’t compete with. Who hasn’t wanted to quote some favourite lines to make a better point?
In this volume we made those choices, judgements and decisions for you.
Some you will love. Maybe not today but tomorrow. Others may not initially be your cup of tea. But they will all make you think and bring you closer to something..…or someone.
This volume comes to you from Portable Poetry, a specialized imprint from Deadtree Publishing. Our range is large and growing and covers single poets, themes, and many compilations.

'I seen you looking at me. Like that. You gonna deny it? Go on. I swear down, Mark – deny it.'
It's Year 10's first day back at school. Mark is new and too scared to make friends. Darren is out of control and too scary to make friends. The two of them need each other – but neither would ever admit it.
Worlds apart, but more similar than they realise, the pair form a complex and manipulative relationship. And before they know it, they're embarking on a dangerous experiment that will alter the course of their lives.
Sophie Swithinbank's play Bacon is an unflinching and unexpectedly humorous look at masculinity, sexuality and power, through the dizzying lens of youth.
The play was first produced at the Finborough Theatre, London, in 2022, directed by Matthew Iliffe, before touring in 2023 to Riverside Studios, London; Summerhall, as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe; and Bristol Old Vic. First developed on the Soho Theatre Writers' Lab, Bacon won the 2018 Tony Craze Award, three Off-West End Awards (Best Director and two Best Performance in a Play awards), and the Peggy Ramsay Foundation and Film 4 Award for 2023.
