In her career, Rihanna has experimented with pop, dubstep, and rock. She has achieved numerous chart records, awards, and has become a pop and fashion icon. Rihanna has also established herself as a successful businesswoman with brands like Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty.

  Rihanna's full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, and she was born in Saint Michael, Barbados on February 20, 1988. Her mother is Afro-Guyanese, and her father is Barbadian with African, Irish, English, and Scottish ancestry. 
    
  As a child, Rihanna suffered from intense headaches, leading doctors to suspect a tumor. Her health improved after her parents divorced when she was 14 years old. 
    
  Before becoming a singer, Rihanna was a cadet in Barbados's Cadet Corps, where her drill sergeant was the later Barbadian singer-songwriter Shontelle. She initially wanted to graduate high school but chose to pursue a music career instead. 
    
  Rihanna's debut single, "Pon de Replay," was chosen because it was deemed the best song for a summer release. It reached the top five in fifteen countries and became a club hit in the U.S.
