Understanding what emotional abuse is, how it manifests, and the long-term effects it has on victims is essential for recognizing and addressing it. 
  At its core, emotional abuse is a pattern of behavior aimed at controlling, belittling, or manipulating another person through psychological means. This can include gaslighting, where the abuser makes the victim question their own reality, constant criticism that undermines self-confidence, and emotional withholding, where love and affection are used as tools for control.
