Beschreibung

Before one can correctly understand the work of the Holy Spirit, they must first of all know the Spirit Himself. A frequent source of error and fanaticism about the work of the Holy Spirit is the attempt to study and understand His work without primarily coming to know Him as a Person. It is of the highest importance from the standpoint of worship that we decide whether the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person, worthy to receive our adoration, our faith, our love, and our entire surrender to Himself, or whether it is simply an influence emanating from God or a power or an illumination that God imparts to us. If the Holy Spirit is a person, and a Divine Person, and we do not know Him as such, then we are robbing a Divine Being of the worship and the faith and the love and the surrender to Himself which are His due. It is not enough to believe the doctrine—one must know the Holy Spirit Himself. The whole purpose of this book is to introduce you to the Holy Spirit.

Every student asks questions about life beyond the classroom:

What does it mean to be in community? How can I discern my vocation? How should I understand marriage and sex? How should I relate to money and power? What happens if I doubt my faith? How should I approach interfaith dialogue?

To help students navigate these questions about some of life's most pressing and difficult issues, Gary M. Burge and David Lauber, coeditors of Theology Questions Everyone Asks, have gathered insights from Christian faculty who draw on their own experiences in conversation with students during office hours and over coffee.

Sometimes, the deepest learning takes place outside the classroom.

    We're all waiting for something.
It might be a spouse or a baby. It might be healing or a home. Regardless of what we're waiting for, it's easy to feel discontent when things aren't going as planned and our dreams are delayed—especially when questions of "Why?" and "How long?" remain unanswered.
God uses seasons of waiting to teach us patience and make us more like himself. But sanctification is not the only purpose God has in mind. When we wait faithfully with unmet longings, we become a powerful picture of the bride of Christ waiting for the day when he returns and God's kingdom reigns.

Finding Your “Why” Mark Twain wrote, "The two most important days of your life are, the day you were born and the day you found out "why." This book is about that second day. If you have already found your why, have you found how to utilize it to propel yourself in an intentional and fulfilling life? If not, this book is for you. If you have not discovered your why, this book is a must read. It takes you on an experiential journey through ten chapters of stories, examples, and exercises to find your why, visualize it, and put it into words that will springboard you into the life of your dreams. I have been blessed with an amazing life. Lived in or traveled in 35 countries, experienced four wonderful careers in international banking, college administrator, real estate ownership and management, and author, speaker, and life coach; raised a great family, authored three books, spoken to audiences of thousands, coached hundreds, attained three college degrees including a Ph.D. Along with life's triumphs come life's trials. I have been fired once, divorced once, run out of a country at gun point, nearly bankrupt, two back operations, and a cancer survivor in 2021. I have experienced pain, sorrow, and great setbacks. I have come out of each with greater blessings than before. I know life's secret to overcoming all obstacles and I am passionate about helping others overcome their trials and reach their life dreams. Let's launch Your Dream. NOW!

What are we human beings? What might our common future be? Who or what is God?

These are some of the most fundamental questions asked by Christians and many others, and they need asking anew in each generation. Neil Richardson’s latest book offers a “new look” Christian faith, drawing from the Bible and from Christian tradition, but showing how much we have missed in the Bible, and how much some traditional beliefs have been misunderstood.

The person of Jesus is key to all three questions explored here. As the “ultimate human being” and, paradoxically, the image of a God, Jesus is an iconic figure for our common human future.

Neil Richardson also explores some of the practical outcomes this has for the life of the Church and the way Christians live in the world. Social justice and a greater sharing of the earth also follow, and the neglected Christian themes of enjoying both God and the world, and life before and after death.

America is in crisis and we face many challenges, including racial unrest, immigration concerns, and political division, and many Christians are asking what they can do to make a difference in the midst of this confusion. Standing for God in America presents biblical answers to the issues affecting America today:
Without a clear understanding of God's Word, we try to solve problems in our own wisdom, yet the Bible tells us man's wisdom is foolishness.
To experience God's blessings, we must arm ourselves with His truth and have a clear plan for how to effect change while representing Christ to others.
There are many ways Christians can become involved in their communities and across the nation to make an impact for God.
