Synopsis

"Casemate has a long history of publishing high quality military history non-fiction. Lately, they have expanded their range of work to include well written novels using wartime settings." – WWII History MagazineRe-deployed from convoys in the Atlantic, the men of PC-450 must face Japanese submarines and air attacks as they support the U.S. Marines island-hopping across the Pacific.Twice torpedoed during the Battle of the Atlantic, LT. Tony Colombo USNR, a former merchant marine officer, is appointed to command a new Navy ship, PC-450, a 173 foot, steel-hulled and much advanced submarine chaser carrying five officers and sixty-five men. After a period of escorting convoys up and down the Atlantic coast, Tony suddenly finds himself escorting ships loaded with Marine Corps equipment all the way to Wellington, New Zealand and then to Brisbane, Australia. Once arrived, he is instantly ordered to begin escorting small convoys up and down the Australian coast. Some weeks later, Tony and PC-450 engage in battle with a dangerous Japanese midget submarine which is attempting to penetrate Brisbane Harbor. In the summer of 1942, as PC-450 begins to escort numerous convoys from Australia to Noumea in New Caledonia, the United States suddenly invades Guadalcanal with the result that Tony begins guiding convoys north in support of the invasion while fending off the multiple day and night air raids that the Japanese throw down The Slot. Subsequently, following the hard fought victory on Guadalcanal, PC-450 participates in the invasion of the Russell Islands and then, during the grinding fight for New Georgia, PC-450 not only helps to fend off Japanese air attacks on the fleet but twice engages in surface actions when the Japanese attempt to infiltrate troops onto the island. Wounded in a sudden air attack that radar could not detect in advance, Tony and Baldy are returned to Brisbane for convalescence and new assignments.

The sequel to the Pulitzer Prize–winning novel is a political thriller examining the influence of the media on presidential elections. It is one of the most fundamental questions facing America today: How justifiably, or irresponsibly, do the volatile and unbiased American media—press, television and radio—attempt to interfere with, and control, the political process and the foreign policy of the nation? In a hotly fought Presidential primary, the news media fractures along ideological lines, supporting and distorting the candidates’ records, manipulating the news rather than covering it. Capable of Honor, the third novel in the grand, bestselling Advise and Consent saga, is a compelling blockbuster that shines a harsh and revealing spotlight on how the media shapes the news, guides public opinion, creates policy—and tries to shape history itself.

The Skeleton Detective puzzles over the theft of an ancient bit of bone—and a student's murder—in this novel by the Edgar Award–winning author of Switcheroo.
Anthropology professor Gideon Oliver would prefer to keep his mind on his beautiful new bride Julie during their English honeymoon, but one intrusive question will not stop nagging at him: Who would want to steal a thirty–thousand–year–old parieto–occipital calvarial fragment?
Yet someone has lifted this chunk of prehistoric human skull from a musty museum in Dorchester. Then, thirty miles away, an archaeology student is murdered, increasing tension and suspicion at a dig that had already seethed with suspicion, rivalry, and mistrust. Could there be a connection between a hot bone and a cold–blooded murder? Gideon is called on by the police to apply the unique skills for which the media have named him "the Skeleton Detective," and he reluctantly agrees. Before he is done, his sleuthing will lead him to another murder and will—in the most literal and terrifying manner imaginable—sic the dogs on him, putting Gideon himself, and Julie as well, in mortal danger . . .
Murder in the Queen's Armes is a suspenseful, fun–filled whodunit by the author of the Alix London and Chris Norgren series—a celebrated master who "thoroughly understands the art of the murder mystery" (The Philadelphia Inquirer).

I know you did it. I know you killed them…
Admitted to a remote psychiatric hospital, Sadie, a troubled teen and self-diagnosed psychic, believes she doesn’t need to be institutionalized. Not that it stops the medical staff from keeping her locked up under careful watch.
As Sadie navigates the confines of her new surroundings, intense therapy sessions with a doctor she doesn’t trust, new medications, and the erratic personalities of the other residents, her special abilities begin to unveil a disturbing truth.
Haunted by horrific premonitions of the murders of her fellow inpatients, she tries to ignore the supposed intrusive thoughts. But when a girl’s body is discovered, and the death is ruled as a suicide, Sadie knows in her gut it’s a lie. If she’s correct and her prophetic dreams are true, then someone plans to pick off the residents one by one.
With time running out and no one willing to believe her, Sadie must trust her troubled mind with a determined resolve to discover who the killer is before she ends up their next victim.
A perfect read for fans of Karen M. McManus, E. Lockhart, and Holly Jackson, this tense psychological thriller promises to keep you guessing until the very last page.
