Black Americans' resilience during centuries of racially-motivated violence is beyond remarkable. But continuing to endure this harm allows for generations of trauma to fester and grow. Healing has to be the priority going forward.

For decades, Tracey Michae'l Lewis-Giggetts clung to her upbringing in the church, believing that racial reconciliation would come through faith and discipline, being respectable, and doing what's right. But when her cousin became the victim of a white supremacist's hateful rampage, her body and soul said, "no more."

The trauma of America's racial history, wreaking havoc on not only Black and Brown folk but white people too, in its own way, will not be alleviated without the will to face it head-on. We must name the dehumanization that plagues us, practice truth-telling and self-care, and make space for our vulnerability—to do the hard work of healing ourselves and our communities.

This book is written with that healing in mind. It unpacks how American systems and institutions enable the kind of violence we've seen connected to white supremacy and nationalism. It examines the way media has created a desensitization to violence against Black bodies. It outlines what it looks like for a person who claims to follow Jesus to be anti-racist. But more than anything, it offers a blueprint for healing and reconciliation that includes the necessity of white people untangling from an ancestral mandate of colonization and false notions of supremacy, and Black and Brown people reckoning with the impact of trauma and feeling free to grieve in whatever way grief shows up.

Lil O'Brien accidentally outed herself to her parents at the age of nineteen when they overheard her talking to a friend about liking girls. Half an hour later she found herself on the side of the road, with instructions to come back and pick up her suitcase the next day.
What follows is a heartbreaking yet hugely funny story of a young Kiwi girl - the deputy head girl from a posh private school - coming to grips with her sexuality in the face of stark disapproval from her parents.
Bit by bit, Lil finds the inner strength to pull herself into an entirely new world. Along the way she's called out for looking too straight in a gay bar, tries to break in to the lesbian in-crowd and figures out how to send her internet lover back to America. She falls in lust over a knotted soccer shoelace, explores how the hell to have sex with a girl and dates four women at once - unsuccessfully.
Lil's story is an insightful and honest look at how you figure out whether you're gay, bi or whatever - and deal with what comes next. It's an essential read for anyone who's had to fight for who they are and what they believe in.

A detailed exploration of parents' fight for a safe environment for their kids, interrogating how race, class, and gender shape health advocacy

The success of food allergy activism in highlighting the dangers of foodborne allergens shows how illness communities can effectively advocate for the needs of their members. In Food Allergy Advocacy, Danya Glabau follows parents and activists as they fight for allergen-free environments, accurate labeling, the fair application of disability law, and access to life-saving medications for food-allergic children in the United States. At the same time, she shows how this activism also reproduces the culturally dominant politics of personhood and responsibility, based on an idealized version of the American family, centered around white, middle-class, and heteronormative motherhood.

By holding up the threat of food allergens to the white nuclear family to galvanize political and scientific action, Glabau shows, the movement excludes many, including Black women and disabled adults, whose families and health have too often been marginalized from public health and social safety net programs. Further, its strategies are founded on the assumption that market-based solutions will address issues of social exclusion and equal access to healthcare.

You can listen to it in about one hour and get all the information you need to understand and deal with a psychopath or sociopath.Yes it also teaches you how to deal with a psychopath/sociopath! Dealing with psychopaths will naturally cause controversy, with some claiming that it's dangerous, or impossible. I never liked the word "impossible". While I designed the methods in my book to be as safe as possible, dealing with a psychopath/sociopath is always potentially risky, regardless of whether you do nothing or something. But I don't underestimate the intelligence of you, the listener, so I list all my methods, whether some consider them "dangerous" or not. Naturally it is up to you to decide which method you should use.Yes I also write about the usual: how to understand a psychopath/sociopathWhat is the typical psychopath behavior? Are all psychopaths the same?Do psychopaths have any "normal" feelings and needs?Do psychopaths have any "normal" relations with other people? Why does a psychopath care so little about other people and their feelings? Why and how does a psychopath manipulate you?Why and how does a psychopath enter a "romantic relationship"?Is psychopathy curable? Are psychopaths evil? How do you deal with a psychopath? How do you discontinue a relationship with a psychopath?Who is this book for? This book was created first and foremost for regular people and will, in a quick and easy way, explain all you need to know about psychopaths for practical purposes. It will teach you what a psychopath is and how they "think", with practical tips on what you can do to prevent being emotionally and psychologically compromised.
