Beschreibung

Heads roll. Corpses dance. People will believe what they want to believe.

After Sister Winfrede, leader of the second violins in the famous Nun’s Orchestra in Portsmouth, is found decapitated, both the police and the MI5 are called in to investigate.

More bodies soon follow, but the deceased don't seem to stay dead. One of the victims, Bea Flat, is seemingly resurrected and ready to conduct the orchestra, and ominous signs tell of a connection to something sinister.

Melding myth, legend and contemporary crime fiction, Rite Judgement is a story of good against evil, of mysterious events that you can never be sure actually happened, and above all of hope and the mind's capacity to believe anything that might make dreams come true. And in the middle of it all, Jack Austin and the DaDa Detective Agency.

Everyone’s favorite moral philosopher and amateur sleuth, Isabel Dalhousie, is
back and once again finds herself facing a number of tricky situations and
philosophical questions, both public and private.
Isabel’s life has fallen into a comfortable and tidy rhythm. Well, as tidy as things
can be with two small boys wreaking havoc around the house. But when her
husband, Jamie, invites a woman named Dawn—recently embroiled in a
contentious affair with a member of Jamie’s orchestra—to stay with them, things
begin to go awry. Strange noises can be heard from the upper floor, even when
Dawn is supposedly at work, and the couple wonders whether something more
    nefarious may be afoot.
If that weren’t enough, Professor Robert Lettuce is staging an academic
conference and has asked Isabel to publish the conference papers in a special
issue of the Review of Applied Ethics. But something is definitely suspect about
the funding, and it will be up to Isabel to sort it out. As the truth comes to light,
Isabel must once more rely on her kindness, powers of deduction and
philosophical expertise to navigate these sensitive matters.

More Lies is an offbeat comedy thriller – a playful hybrid of fiction, poetry and monologue – about a writer writing to stay alive. A timely satire on the nature of truth and trust, the novel opens with 'our hero' being held hostage in their New York apartment, forced to type to hide the manoeuvres of a femme fatale, holding a pearl-handled gun, and her brother, a small-time thug with big-time ambitions. Through a series of lies, backflips and alternative versions of this wild tale of assassination, lost gold, betrayal, passion and identity theft, the author moves from being a trapped hack, forced to prostitute themselves, to dazzling the world with the acrobatics of their imagination, to the heart of the matter: storytelling is all that is keeping them alive.

I have the most terrible problems with my sex life. It all boils down to the fact that I have no sex life. At least not with another person.

Finally given the heave-ho by Pandora, Adrian Mole finds himself in the unenviable situation of living with the love-of-his-life as she goes about shacking up with other men.

Worse, as he slides down the employment ladder, from deskbound civil servant in Oxford to part-time washer-upper in Soho, he finds that critical reception for his epic novel, Lo! The Flat Hills of My Homeland, is not quite as he might have hoped.

But Adrian is about to discover that extraordinary and wonderful things may blossom even in the wilderness . . .
