Eliot Katayama is grieving for Babung, her paternal grandmother who just passed away, and she feels like she’s the only one. She’s less than excited to move to her new house, which smells like lemons and deception, and she’s searching for a
sign, any sign, that ghosts are real. Because if ghosts are real, it means she can find a way back to Babung.

When Eliot chases the promise of paranormal activity to the presumably haunted Honeyfield Hall, she finds her proof of spirits. But these ghosts are losing their memories, stuck between this world and the next, waiting to cross over. With the
help of Hazel, the granddaughter of Honeyfield’s owner (and Eliot’s new crush), she attempts to uncover the mystery behind Honeyfield Hall and the ghosts residing within.

And as Eliot fits the pieces together, she may just be able to help the spirits remember their pasts, and hold on to her grandmother’s memory.

Almost-eleven-year-old Josephine is NOT pleased to be moving into the Happy World trailer park over the summer of 1974. She misses her bedroom with ballerinas on the wall and her pretty, well-dressed friends. Happy World isn't happy. It's dingy and depressing! Nothing like the world that headstrong Josephine wants. But when Josephine learns that her would-be next door neighbor in Happy World was kidnapped months ago, she develops a begrudging interest in her new home. A kidnapping is exciting—and all signs point to Josephine being meant to find ten-year-old Molly. Despite her efforts to stay detached, Josephine investigates Molly's disappearance with help from the eccentric cast of characters living in Happy World. It turns out the rough edges of her community are softer and sweeter than they first seemed. And the unexpected friendships she forms might be more precious than anything she's ever owned. In her extraordinary middle grade debut, Suzanne Supplee brings a small Tennessee town and its memorable residents to life. Perfect for daydreamers and unstoppable imaginations. This beautiful, bursting-with-feelings book is a must-listen for fans of Kate DiCamillo's Raymie Nightingale series.

" As Harriett Foy guides listeners through the city at night, her voice is as warm as the sunny yellow interior scenes that contrast with the surrounding nighttime blues in this picture book. Its central character is a child of color who is going to bed as nighttime activity is carried out by a diverse group of adults with a variety of occupations...Background sound effects--car engines, sirens, a dog yapping--underscore the bustle."  AudioFile Magazine

    Skin Care Tips - Some...

The skin’s importance is often overlooked by about a half of the world’s population – mostly men – although this is rapidly changing. Even so, most of those who do worry about their skin are mainly interested in the areas that show like the face, neck and hands.
However, the skin is not only the largest organ on the body (human or otherwise), it is also the membrane that literally holds us together. On a recent visit to a dermatologist, I described a small cut on my hand as ‘nothing serious’. The dermatologist’s response surprised me. “Your skin is not only there to keep bodily fluids in”, he said, “but to keep pathogens out. Every time that barrier is damaged, it makes it easier for bacteria to get in. Bacteria can cause infections such as sepsis and blood poisoning which can be irreversible and so lethal”. I am no longer so blasé about nicks and scratches as I once was in my silly, macho male way.
Skin is also very sensitive to what is going on beneath it, which means that acne, pimples, dry or oily skin are early warnings of underlying problems. The problem for most people is that they treat the symptoms – the outbreak – rather than the underlying cause. This is hardly surprising, since skin care companies make hundreds of billions from selling creams, potions and lotions to mask these symptoms. This effectively allows the condition to continue.
Having said that, continuous, regular skin care started from an early age is a good thing. However, you need impartial information from a specialist before deciding what kind of skin care regimen to follow. Just doing what one’s parents do, or gathering a basketful of products from the local pharmacy is not good enough.
Do your own research, and ask the right people, before you decide on how to protect yourself.
