  Since childhood, Janice Whyne has been a words person, writing prose-filled Christmas cards, songs and poetry. She sees poetry as a means of self-expression. A conduit and a safe space for our emotions, feelings and lived experiences. She's a Londoner by birthplace, a Jamaican by birthright, and also regards Indonesia as another homeland. 
  In Conversation is a personal milestone in Janice's journey of rediscovering her creative self. Along the way, she's ventured into the world of open mics, spoken word and poetry slams; winning 1st runner-up at the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival Poetry Slam 2019 & 2022. 
  The poems in In Conversation began their lives with a word(s) exchanged in conversation or that captured her attention in something she was listening to or viewing. She regards them as articulations of the said and unsaid; with the poetic voice in them not always hers, but rather an expression of the voice(s) of others. 
  Readers have described it as unapologetic, raw, poignant, vulnerable and brave: a journey. 
  "It speaks of someone that feels and loves much for this world, the wonderful imperfect people in it, and the injustices that go on."  
  Themes of life, loss, love, protest and more are awaiting all who choose to engage in conversation with these poems. 
  Her poem 'Sitting with Amazing' is part of The Poetry Archive Now Worldview 2021 Winners collection. Other poems have been featured in ‘Coffee & Contemplation: a taste of empowerment’ (2020), Coffee People Zine, Issue 10 (2020), All My Relations, Volume 5, Talbot-Heindl (2023), ‘Her locks unveiled: poems from the Black in White poetry competition’ (2023) as well as in other online and printed mediums.

  John Clare was born on 13th July, 1793 in Helpston, a few miles north of Peterborough. 
  Schooled only until the age of 12 his early career was that of agricultural labourer, pot boy, gardener and lime burner.  His early life of hardship and frequent malnutrition led to his diminutive stature of five feet and contributed to his later health problems. 
  In 1820 his first poems were published and began to earn him a reputation as the “Northamptonshire Peasant Poet”. 
  His poetry sold well but only occasionally did that and other incomes keep his head above water.  Married with seven children the burden was huge and demanding.  Frequently penniless his health began to dissolve. 
  He last published in 1835 and by 1837 with his drinking out of control and his mental state shredded he entered a mental institution.  He was to reside in such unhappy places until his death. 
  He died aged 71 on 20th May 1864. His remains were returned to Helpston for burial in St Botolph’s churchyard. 
  Today he is considered one of the greatest of English poets.  His lyrical works on nature and the countryside earn him this just praise.

  Created by Don Quinn, the co-creator of Fibber McGee & Molly, The Halls of Ivy was a situation comedy series that ran on NBC radio from 1950 through 1952. Originally slated to star Gale Gordan and Edna Best, the lead roles went to British husband-and-wife actors Ronald and Benita Colman. The Colman’s were well versed at comedy and already a hit with radio fans having played Jack Benny’s next-door-neighbor on The Jack Benny Program for years. Ronald Colman played William Todhunter Hall, the urbane president of small, rural Ivy College. Benita, played his wife Victoria, a former British musical comedy star. The series chronicled their interactions with students, friends, and college trustees. Others in the cast were Herb Butterfield as testy board chairman Clarence Wellman, Willard Waterman (then starring in The Great Gildersleeve) as board member John Merriweather and Alan Reed (television’s Fred Flintstone) as stuffy English teacher Professor Heaslip. Bea Benaderet, Gloria Gordon, Virginia Gregg, Lee Patrick, Jean Vander Pyle (television’s Wilma Flintstone), Sam Edwards, Arthur Q. Bryan (the voice of Elmer Fudd), Barton Yarborough, and Jerry Hausner appeared in supporting roles. The sponsor was the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company (“The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous”). Nat Wolff produced and directed the series and Ken Carpenter was the announcer. The Halls of Ivy received a Peabody Award in 1950 and made a transition to CBS television in 1954, bowing out in 1955.
