Synopsis

Amy, a feminist teen blogger decides it’s time to prove that sex on the web isn’t just for men. During a rainy summer in a northern seaside town, Amy decides to show that sexual choice is firmly in the hands of women by persuading new love interest Callum to film her first time.
Meanwhile, Callum has his own issues to deal with, including a mother on the edge of a nervous breakdown and an obsession with faded porn star, Jaze.
This dark, romantic comedy explores how new technology and the mainstreaming of internet pornography can impact on human relationships and a young person’s burgeoning sense of self.

Poe’s stature as a major figure in world literature is based on his ingenious and profound poems, which established a highly influential rationale for the short form in poetry. Poe was also the principal forerunner of the “art for art’s sake” movement in 19th-century literature. He demonstrated a brilliant command of language and technique as well as an inspired and original imagination. Poe’s poetry greatly influenced the French Symbolists of the late 19th century, who in turn altered the direction of modern literature. Here, perhaps, is his most icon lauded work as interpreted by veteran actor Giuliano. A sometimes comic, sometimes heartbreaking journey into the world of autism.
Sandra is looking for love. Gordon is seeking acceptance. Simon just wants these parents to stop talking for two minutes so he can get on with teaching their kids.
And Casper? Casper is not here.
Jody O'Neill's play What I (Don't) Know About Autism mixes narrative, song, dance and direct address to explore this contentious and often misunderstood subject matter.
Inspired by the writer's own experiences with autism, the play celebrates autistic identity whilst offering deeper insight and understanding to non-autistic audiences.
What I (Don't) Know About Autism was co-produced by Jody O'Neill and the Abbey Theatre, Dublin, in association with The Everyman, Cork, and Mermaid County Wicklow Arts Centre, Bray. It was first performed, with all relaxed performances and a cast of autistic and non-autistic actors, on the Abbey's Peacock Stage, in February 2020, before touring.

Literature is a world of words and wonder, able to take us on almost unimaginable journeys from the wild and fantastic to the grind and minutiae of life.

An author’s ideas are his building blocks, his architecture of the mind, building a structure on which all else will rest; the narrative, the characters, the words - those few words that begin the adventure.

In this series we look at some of our leading classic authors across two genres: the short story and the poem. In this modern world there is an insatiable need to categorise and pigeon-hole everyone and everything. But ideas, these grains and saplings of the brain, need to roam, to explore and find their perfect literary use vehicle. Our authors are masters of many literary forms, perhaps known for one but themselves favouring another.

Story. Poems. Story. Within these boundaries come all manner of invention and cast of characters. And, of course, each author has their own way of revealing their own chapter and verse.

A sharply perceptive, darkly funny riff on urban isolation by one of Scotland's leading playwrights.
This is a big day for Sadie and Bill; their favourite person is coming to visit. They've gone to great lengths to prepare for the occasion. It's an even bigger day for Jackie; and not one she'd anticipated. Should she make the most of it? She doesn't know if she can any more; too many people depend on her.
Any Given Day explores our fear of the unknown, and our guilt and responsibility towards ourselves and others.
'as bold, unnerving and fraught as anything McLean has written' - Guardian
'an excellent play which truly does horrify on so many levels' - Independent
