A revealing history of the formative period when voices of dissent and innovation defied power and created visions of America still resonant today. The early decades of the nineteenth century saw the expansion of slavery, Native dispossession, and wars with Canada and Mexico. Mass immigration and powerful religious movements sent tremors through American society. But even as the powerful defended the status quo, others defied it: voices from the margins moved the center; eccentric visions altered the accepted wisdom, and acts of empathy questioned self-interest. Edward L. Ayers’s rich history examines the visions that moved Frederick Douglass, Margaret Fuller, the Native American activist William Apess, and others to challenge entrenched practices and beliefs.Through decades of award-winning scholarship on the Civil War, Edward L. Ayers has himself ventured beyond the interpretative status quo to recover the range of possibilities embedded in the past as it was lived. Here he turns that distinctive historical sensibility to a period when bold visionaries and critics built vigorous traditions of dissent and innovation into the foundation of the nation. Those traditions remain alive for us today.

Can sitting in front of a light box increase your creativity? [YES]  How about listening to Bach's Italian Concerto in F major? [NO]. These are crucial questions to the survival of humans. We need to find ways to unlock our creativity, both as individuals and as a species, if we are to adapt to the challenges and dangers, as well as the opportunities, of the accelerated-change climate of the 21st century.  Creativity is not only for artists, musicians, and mad scientists. This original and useful book presents a program to understand and increase your creativity in seven specific states of mind or "brainsets." 1.      The Connect Brainset: This is a defocused state of attention that allows you to see the connections between objects or concepts and to generate multiple solutions to a given problem rather than focusing on a single solution. 2.      The Reason Brainset: This is a state of purposeful planning in which you consciously manipulate information in your working memory to solve a problem. 3.      The Envision Brainset: This is a state in which you see possibilities and patterns. You speculate using "what if" as a launching pad and respond with the full force of your imagination. 4.      The Absorb Brainset: This is a state in which you open your mind to new experiences and ideas. You uncritically view your world and take in knowledge. Everything fascinates you and attracts your attention. 5.      The Transform Brainset: This is a state in which you are able to transform negative energy into works of art and great performances. You are also motivated to express (in creative form) the pain, the anxieties, and the hopes that we all share as part of the human experience. 6.     The Evaluate Brainset: This is the state in which you consciously judge the value of ideas, concepts, products, behaviors, or individuals. This is the "critical eye" of mental activity.    7.      The Stream Brainset: The state is associated with the actual production of creative material, such as jazz improvisation, narrative writing (as in novels or short stories), sculpting or painting, and the step-by-step revelation of scientific discovery. Readers will learn which parts of the brain are "hot" during each of these seven brainsets, and find quizzes, exercises, and self-tests to help them use each brainset to their advantage.

"The greatest tank battle in world history, known as Operation CITADEL, opened during the early hours of 5 July 1943, and its outcome was to decide the eventual outcome of the war on the Eastern Front. Images of War—Battle of Kursk 1943, is an illustrated account of this pivotal battle of the war on the Eastern Front, when the Germans threw 900,000 men and 2,500 tanks against 1,300,000 soldiers and 3,000 tanks of the Red Army in a savage battle of attrition.Unlike many pictorial accounts of the war on the Eastern Front, Battle of Kursk 1943 draws upon both German and Russian archive material, all of which are rare or unpublished. The images convey the true scale, intensity and horror of the fighting at Kursk, as the Germans tried in vain to batter their way through the Soviet defensive systems. The battle climaxed at the village of Prokhorovka, which involved some 1,000 tanks fighting each other at pointblank range.During this vicious two week battle the Red Army dealt the Panzerwaffe a severe battering from which the German war effort was never to recover fully. Kursk finally ended the myth of German invincibility."

Rewire Your Mindset And Get Fast Results With Hypnosis!

The advantages of hypnosis therapy are widespread. A lot of individuals report positive changes with hypnosis and it's recognized as a valid type of holistic alternative medicine.

Hypnosis is a popular technique utilized for weight loss, overcoming addiction, healing, achieving goals, relaxation and stress relief. It's utilized to get rid of undesired behaviors and beliefs and to manifest new desires and achieve goals in life.

If you wish to influence your subconscious mind to accept new programming for positive alterations hypnosis is an effective technique for doing that.

Among the chief advantages of hypnosis is that when you in a hypnotic state brain wave frequencies decelerate. You center or focus your awareness and you're actually much more aware than usual. A state of centered awareness almost feels as though you're more of an observer of thought and images rather than a part of them. This allows you to bypass the "gatekeepers" at the entrance to the subconscious and superconscious so you are able to access these levels of consciousness directly, and the brain is much more receptive to suggestion.

The unconscious, or subconscious may then be reprogrammed so it lets go of old patterns, beliefs and feelings that no longer serve you. They may be replaced with suggestions that are favorable and affirming. The superconscious mind may open you into fresh insights and originative ideas.

A common misperception is that you only have to be hypnotized once to make lasting changes. Occasionally this is the case, but for lasting positive changes, hypnosis suggestions need to be repeated several times till your mind accepts the new programming.

You'll need to enter hypnosis and listen to your audio multiple times. Don't expect that one session will set up and run your new programs.

Put this audio on each night before you go to bed and listen to it right before you fall asleep. If you have time also listen to it first thing upon waking. Do this for at least 21 days consistently so that positive change can take affect in your life.
