She teams up with a criminal expert, Dr. Dylan Reinhart, who has also become a target, to stop The Dealer before he can use every card in his deck.Murder Games by James Patterson and Howard Roughan has received favorable reviews from readers. Shingles, also known as herpes zoster, is a viral infection caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), the same virus responsible for chickenpox. Once a person recovers from chickenpox, the virus remains dormant in nerve tissues and can reactivate years or even decades later, leading to shingles. This condition is characterized by a painful rash that typically appears on one side of the body or face, often in a band-like pattern. While shingles is not a life-threatening illness, it can cause significant discomfort and, in some cases, lead to long-term complications such as postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), a persistent nerve pain that can last for months or even years after the rash has healed.
The history of shingles dates back to ancient times, with early descriptions found in medical texts from different cultures. However, it was not until the 20th century that researchers discovered its link to the varicella-zoster virus. The introduction of the chickenpox vaccine in the 1990s significantly reduced the number of new chickenpox cases, which in turn is expected to lower the incidence of shingles over time. Nevertheless, shingles remains a common condition, particularly among older adults and individuals with weakened immune systems.
Understanding who is at risk for shingles is essential for prevention and early intervention. While anyone who has had chickenpox can develop shingles, the likelihood increases with age. The immune system naturally weakens as people grow older, making those over the age of 50 particularly vulnerable. Individuals with compromised immune systems, such as those undergoing chemotherapy, people with HIV/AIDS, or patients on long-term immunosuppressive medications, are also at an increased risk. Additionally, factors such as stress, chronic illness, and certain medical conditions can contribute to the reactivation of the virus.

In 1787, British philosopher and social reformer Jeremy Bentham conceived of the panopticon, a ring of cells observed by a central watchtower, as a labor-saving device for those in authority. While Bentham's design was ostensibly for a prison, he believed that any number of places that require supervision—factories, poorhouses, hospitals, and schools—would benefit from such a design. The French philosopher Michel Foucault took Bentham at his word. In his groundbreaking 1975 study, Discipline and Punish, the panopticon became a metaphor to describe the creeping effects of personalized surveillance as a means for ever-finer mechanisms of control.

Forty years later, the available tools of scrutiny, supervision, and discipline are far more capable and insidious than Foucault dreamed, and yet less effective than Bentham hoped. Shopping malls, container ports, terrorist holding cells, and social networks all bristle with cameras, sensors, and trackers. But, crucially, they are also rife with resistance and prime opportunities for revolution. The Inspection House is a tour through several of these sites—from Guantánamo Bay to the Occupy Oakland camp and the authors' own mobile devices – providing a stark, vivid portrait of our contemporary surveillance state and its opponents.

    ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK
“The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared” by Jonas Jonasson follows Allan Karlsson, a centenarian who escapes his birthday party at a nursing home, embarking on a wild and unexpected adventure. Allan, with no particular destination in mind, accidentally steals a suitcase full of money, which leads him into the path of criminals, police, and journalists. The novel blends dark humor with absurdity, exploring themes of fate, the randomness of life, and the absurdity of politics and history. Through Allan's quirky experiences, Jonasson critiques human nature, power, and the unpredictability of events.
