Beschreibung

Winner of a third-place award in the front cover artwork category from the Catholic Media Association. For a variety of reasons—including cultural norms, a man’s traditional role in the family, and lack of support—a father’s grief often fades into the background when his child dies. The Grief of Dads was written by Catholic fathers just like you who have lost a child at any age and from any circumstance. These dads offer the support, spiritual guidance, and companionship you need as you make your way through grief. The Grief of Dads is an important resource to help you know that you are not alone and to work through loss and the upheaval of deep grieving with help from men who have been there, too. Authors Patrick O’Hearn and Bryan Feger, along with Ryan Breaux of Red Bird Ministries—an organization that guides individuals and couples through the trauma of losing a child—want to normalize conversations about men’s grief. Drawing on the richness of the Catholic faith, they offer stories from the men in the Bible and from male saints who knew the pain of losing a child and yet found hope and healing in God. The authors share their own stories and the experiences of seven other fathers who lean on their faith and seek healing with help from the sacraments, the Bible, fellow Catholics, and the devotional practices of the Church. The book includes resource lists, journaling space, prayers, spiritual reflections, and letters of spiritual support, as well as guidance for friends, family, and pastors of grieving fathers. Kelly Breaux, cofounder and president of Red Bird Ministries, wrote a chapter for wives as well.

“Jesus said, ‘Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will rule over the All.'” This spoken by the Master was banned by the budding Christian Church two-thousand years ago, still deemed a heretical teaching to this day.
The Verbal Truth of Christianity effects to bring you to the crux of the central message of the Jesus mission, a universal one of reality's truer nature, the defining of God and cosmos in believable and constructive terms; an understanding of the eternal realm and our relation to it.
A simple message overlooked by scholars, yet of such complexity it takes lifetimes to realize; to see and understand how by ignorance and fear we frame our living narratives in birth and death -- necessitating a false mortality.
In Ch1 this book offers a greater explanation of what “life” is and sets a foundation for a more developed, elevated, meaningful, concept of “God”.
Ch2 opens with a short exploration of the time and place setting of the story of Jesus, making effort for determining who he was, what he said, why he said it, and further to sift out what he said that the Christian Church embraced, and what he said that the Church rejected. And more importantly, we will begin to see what the Church teaches that Jesus never said or taught.
In Ch3 we will briefly look at credible gospels of Jesus that the Church rejected then and still rejects now, primarily the “Gnostic” Gospel of Thomas lost to the ages until uncovered by chance in 1945.
Ch4 reconciles the canonical (New Testament) gospels of the Christian Church with legitimate rejected gospels that the Church deemed heretical (wrong teachings). From this, and with our more elevated understanding of life and who God is, a clear Jesus message emerges of which logic and understanding replaces the childlike message of “faith”.

Saint Rose of Lima, the story for children 10 and up of St. Rose of Lima, who became a hermit in her own home--rather than go to a convent--and how she became a great Saint. At her confirmation in 1597, she took the name of Rose, because, when an infant, her face had been seen transformed by a mystical rose. As a child she was remarkable for a great reverence, and pronounced love, for all things relating to God.

Christianity Today 2025 Book Award Finalist (Academic Theology)

If God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and entirely good, why do we need to ask God to do good things? Won't God act for the best regardless? Do our prayers even make a difference? Why do some go unanswered?

This brief, accessible book provides a fresh angle on our questions to help us think differently about why we pray and what happens when we pray.

John Peckham applies the insights from his successful book Theodicy of Love to the perennial problem of petitionary prayer, offering practical implications for how we might pray and live in ways that advance God's kingdom of unselfish love. Since our understanding of petitionary prayer is inseparable from our understanding of God, Peckham sheds significant light on the nature and character of God and the often-mysterious workings of divine providence. He does so by bringing theological and philosophical nuance to readings of key biblical texts on prayer, weaving in other scriptural clues to articulate an understanding of prayer that highlights not only its necessity but also its urgency.

This book will appeal to students, pastors, church leaders, and thoughtful laypeople.

The fifth story in the Chosen to Serve series revolves around the corruption obvious in the 2020 election. Jimmy is charged by the Lord to expose the corruption to the American people, discussing the founding principles of the Grand Experiment that was the United States of America.
Patriotism and Christian principles are dealt with, as Jimmy accomplishes his ministry, for the Lord’s purposes. Issues of information manipulation are prominent and the struggle incumbent in a Believer living in a corrupt world, called to stand for truth.
Wikipedia says that Propaganda is communication used to influence or persuade an audience to further an agenda and may be selectively presenting facts to encourage a particular perception; or using loaded language to produce an emotional rather than a rational response. The digital age has given rise to new ways of disseminating propaganda; bots and algorithms are being used to create computational propaganda and fake or biased news.
