Beschreibung

100% scientifically-proven ways to make friends quickly, turn enemies into friends, gain trust, and be flat-out likable.Utilize the most interesting, shocking, and counterintuitive findings in psychological science to simply make people want to be around you.The Science of Likability takes over 67 seminal scientific and psychological studies and breaks them down into real, usable guidelines and tips to create the presence you have always wanted. Every piece of advice in this book to increase your social standing and likability factor is 100% backed by in-depth, peer-reviewed research, and it goes far beyond simple common sense and intuition.Learn how to subconsciously make yourself likable, trustworthy, and intelligent. You can get a new haircut and wardrobe, and you even learn knock-knock jokes. But likability is something more. It's subconscious, and it's about the small signs that signal our brains to let their guards down, seek others out, and embrace them. We know what to do if we want to make someone hate us - we now also know what to do to become someone's favorite person.Understand what makes people tick, and strategically give it to them. There are seminal studies from (in)famous researchers such as Sigmund Freud, Ivan Pavlov, Stanley Schachter, and Daniel Goleman, but also the most up-to-date discoveries from 2022 - all insightful, analytical, sometimes surprising, but most importantly effective and actionable. Pair that with the insight and human intelligence factor of bestselling author and social skills coach Patrick King, and you have a guide that can be read equally for education as for helpful, real advice. Patrick's writing draws of a variety of sources, from scientific research, academic experience, coaching, and real life experience.

The real way to use eye contact to build trust.

Why tripping and being vulnerable in front of people is positive.

Universal definitions of charisma, wit, and humor - seriously. Universal.

How to look at, and touch someone effectively to generate attraction.

Being likable unlocks the doors to everything you want in life.A better career? You better believe that the people with the most promotions and highest salaries aren't just the most qualified. Better love life? Being likable makes you a potential love interest to anyone you want. Better relationships and friendships? Not only that, but you open the door to people wanting to be friends with you. Likability is the hidden force that makes people appear to be lucky in life and receive more opportunities than they know what to do with. Likability drives us forward, not intelligence or luck.

"Dear Tulsī, you are much beloved by Lord Kṛṣṇa because your leaves are always at His lotus feet. Dear mālatī flower, dear mallikā flower, dear jasmine flower, all of you must have been touched by Kṛṣṇa while He was passing this way after giving us transcendental enjoyment. Have you seen Mādhava passing this way? O mango trees, O trees of jackfruit, O pear trees and āsana trees! O blackberries and bael trees and trees of the kadamba flower—you are all very pious trees to be living on the bank of the Yamunā. Kṛṣṇa must have passed through this way. Will you kindly let us know which way He has gone?" The Srimad Bhagavatam

Tulsi Devi (Vrinda - Holy Basil) is a sacred plant in Hindu belief. She is regarded as an earthly manifestation of the goddess Srimati Tulsi Devi, and is as an avatar of Lakshmi, and thus the consort of Vishnu. The offering of her leaves is mandatory in the worship of Bhagavan Sri Krishna. Tulsi is regarded as the holiest of all plants and a bridge between heaven and earth. A traditional prayer teaches the creator Brahma and the Ganges resides in her branches, all holy pilgrimage centers in her roots, all deities are in her stem and leaves, and the Vedas are found in the upper part of her branches. The Tulsi herb is a center of household devotion, and is often referred to as the "women's deity" and "a symbol of wifehood and motherhood." Vaishnavites consider it as the manifestation of god in the plant kingdom. Tulsi Devi is one of Krishna’s most intimate servants coming to bless us all with extraordinary fortune. She has delicate purple and green leaves, flower tassels (like miniature temple spires), and an arresting, sweet fragrance famous for attracting the minds of yogis to Krishna’s service via Bhakti Yoga. Tulasi’s wood is carved into the Japa beads on which devotees chant Krishna’s holy name.

In an exciting exposition, Michael R. Bradley brings to life the Confederate cavalry operations during the winter of 1862. These strategic plans centered on an unprecedented use of horsemen in carefully orchestrated maneuvers to successfully strike behind enemy lines. The series of daring raids by Confederate riders were led by Nathan Bedford Forrest, John Hunt Morgan, Earl Van Dorn and Joseph Wheeler. Although of widely different backgrounds and military expertise, these men earned a spot in history by taking advantage of the one area in which the Confederacy held superiority - their cavalry. Under their leadership, relatively small numbers of horsemen in gray held vastly superior Union forces in place for five months. Through a detailed, day-by-day analysis of their bold forays deep into Union territory, Bradley presents a clear and concise picture of exactly how these leaders revolutionized mobile warfare. This fascinating exploration of military strategy includes a final section that contains a breakdown of the regiments and individuals who were a part of what Bradley terms the "horsemen of the Confederate apocalypse."

**Jack the Ripper: The Whitechapel Mystery**
    *By David G. Stone*
In the fog-shrouded streets of Victorian London, a killer stalked the night. Between August and November 1888, the impoverished district of Whitechapel became the hunting ground for history's most infamous serial killer—Jack the Ripper.
David G. Stone meticulously reconstructs one of criminology's greatest unsolved mysteries, taking listeners deep into the gaslit alleyways where terror reigned supreme. Through careful examination of police reports, witness testimonies, and contemporary newspaper accounts, Stone brings to life the grimy, desperate world of London's East End—a place where the vulnerable became victims and a shadowy figure earned immortal infamy.
Who was Jack the Ripper? Was he a deranged surgeon with anatomical knowledge? A member of the royal family? A local butcher? Or someone else entirely? Stone explores the most compelling theories while painting a vivid portrait of Victorian society's dark underbelly—the poverty, desperation, and social inequalities that created the perfect storm for these horrific crimes.
More than just a recounting of murders, this is a fascinating exploration of Victorian police work, early forensic science, and the birth of modern criminal investigation. Stone examines how the Ripper case changed law enforcement forever and why, more than a century later, we remain captivated by these unsolved murders.
Prepare to walk the shadowy streets of Whitechapel, where every doorway held secrets and every footstep echoed with dread. The mystery of Jack the Ripper has never been more compelling—or more chilling.
*A gripping true crime investigation that will keep you listening late into the night.*

Audio Snaps is a series of 100-minute audio books, each featuring a dozen or so stories from each of my five books. Black Vinyl White Powder is a bit different from the other books in that it was written as a continuous narrative moving through story after story. So the best way to fit it into the formula for the series was simply to read the first six chapters (later, I'll do the rest of the book). Black Vinyl White Powder is a history of the British pop music with insight into the recreational drugs of the the day and their relevance. Since I was there, and a part of it, it's very much written from my own point of view. The reviews when it was first published were exceptional, for instance - "One of the most authoritative, intelligent, diligently researched,
conscientiously indexed, and thoroughly unpretentious disquisitions on
the history of the British pop scene yet written." SUNDAY TELEGRAPH - "Napier-Bell provides a one-stop-shop education in what the music business – as opposed to the music itself – has always been about: get rich, get high, get laid." THE INDEPENDENT - "His preoccupation with trivia is what makes his book so compelling and informative. Napier-Bell knows that if you scratch the surface of pop music you will find more surface." TIMES HIGHER EDUCATIONAL SUPPLEMENT.
