  Archibald James Carey Jr. (February 29, 1908 - April 20, 1981) was an American lawyer, judge, politician, diplomat, and clergyman from the South Side of Chicago. He was elected as a city alderman and served for eight years. In 1957, he was appointed by President Dwight Eisenhower as chair of his committee on government employment policy, which worked to reduce racial discrimination. The following is a speech Carey gave at the 1952 Republican National Convention.

  Herein one finds poems about the spiritual master, practicing bhakti, connecting to God and living a life of spiritual pursuit. 
  From the Foreword 
  The beauty of poetry is also practical. It is said in the Vedic scripture that to be a poet is one of the divine qualities possessed by devotees of the Lord. Like an ornament it enhances the character of a person, if he is using this poetry not for own sense gratification, but for glorification of the Supreme Person. That is the only work of a poet, namely to glorify the all-attractive person, literally Kṛṣṇa. 
  Words that do not glorify the All-attractive Person, Kṛṣṇa, are considered by saintly persons to be like places of pilgrimage for crows. Swan-like devotees who are actually residents of the kingdom of God do not derive any pleasure there. Thus, I follow in the footsteps of my spiritual teachers who were all expert poets and writers. 
  2016, as a believer and traveler I came to win back faith. Finding shelter with the wisdom texts of the Vedas, a doorway to self-realisation was opened. Self-realisation is nothing cheap, but the sole purpose of human existence. This human form of life is essentially meant for inquiring about the Absolute Truth. 
  When this mystical door opened, I had insight into spiritual truth, substantial, enlightened and blissful. In a state of meditation this spiritual drop touched my heart and I tried to get hold of it. Expressing my experiences in words of poetry helped to channel these spiritual visions and insights.

  The Wild West has made legends out of many men, but it has forged a lasting legacy for the city of Tombstone, Arizona, a frontier boomtown that has come to symbolize everything about the Old West. In many ways, Tombstone fit all the stereotypes associated with that era in American history. A dusty place on the outskirts of civilization, Tombstone brought together miners, cowboys, lawmen, saloons, gambling, brothels, and everything in between, creating an environment that was always colorful and occasionally fatal. 	Those characteristics might not have distinguished Tombstone from other frontier outposts like Deadwood in the Dakotas, but some of the most famous legends of the West called Tombstone home for many years, most notably the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday. And ultimately, the relationships and rivalries forged by those men in Tombstone culminated in the legendary Gunfight at the O.K. Corral on October 26, 1881. 
  	The mining town of Deadwood quickly sprung up as prospectors descended on the area, even though the federal government had ordered military troops to set up posts there to keep prospectors out. Men like Al Swearengen and Charlie Utter came to make fortunes one way or another, Calamity Jane amused and irritated the townspeople in equal measure, and the legendary Wild Bill Hickok was shot and killed in one of Deadwood’s saloons while holding the “Dead Man’s Hand” by “the coward McCall.”  
  By 1876, however, Dodge City had become a popular destination spot for cattle drives starting from as far south as Texas, earning itself the nickname “The Cowboy Capital of the World”. With that, the town also came to symbolize everything about the Old West. Dodge City brought together cowboys, lawmen, saloons, gambling, brothels, and everything in between, creating an environment that was always colorful and occasionally fatal. Since Dodge City was on the frontier, it took awhile for the law to catch up to it.
