This audiobook features a special tribal ambient version of the full text in addition to the raw narration.
These are the words of Odin the High One. Hávamál is presented as a single poem in the Icelandic Codex Regius, a collection of Old Norse poems from the Viking age. The poem, itself a combination of numerous shorter poems, is largely gnomic, presenting advice for living, proper conduct, and wisdom. It is considered an important source of Old Norse philosophy.

West Point has long been America’s most famous military academy, but in the early 19th century, it was a highly unimpressive school consisting of a few ugly buildings facing a desolate, barren parade ground. Established with just five officers and ten cadets of the Corps of Engineers on March 16, 1802, the Academy was built on a spot just 50 miles north of New York City which had been a key Hudson River military fortress during the Revolutionary War. Cadets attending during the “Point's” first several decades were obliged to maintain their daily regimen knowing the school might shut down at any moment, as the U. S. government frequently questioned why it should provide free education.
As it turned out, West Point would become the foremost military academy in the nation, but none of the West Point classes became as famous as the Class of 1846, which boasted more than a dozen future Civil War generals. The Class of 1846 included a shy kid named Thomas Jonathan Jackson who made few friends and struggled with his studies, finishing 17th in his class 15 years before becoming Stonewall. Also in that class was A.P. Hill, who was already in love with the future wife of George McClellan, a young prodigy who finished second in the class of 1846. A popular and mischievous George Pickett would play hooky at the local bar and struggle just to finish last in the class, and the Class of 1846 also churned out critical Union generals like Jesse Reno, Darius Couch, and George Stoneman.
Before these men opposed each other on Civil War battlefields, they forged their own friendships and charted their future paths together at West Point and the Mexican-American War.

Spirituality is the essence of human existence, a journey beyond the physical world into the depths of the soul. It is not confined to religious doctrines but is instead a personal experience that connects an individual to a higher reality. At its core, spirituality is about seeking truth, understanding the purpose of life, and attaining inner peace. Some find this connection through meditation and prayer, while others experience it in nature, art, or acts of kindness. Regardless of the path taken, spirituality fosters a sense of belonging to something greater than oneself.
The relationship between the mind and spirit is fundamental to spiritual growth. Thoughts shape perception, and perception influences reality. A mind cluttered with negativity and distractions struggles to grasp deeper truths, while a mind that is calm and focused becomes a gateway to higher awareness. This is why many spiritual traditions emphasize practices such as mindfulness, meditation, and contemplation. These practices clear the noise of daily life and create space for divine insight. In this state of clarity, individuals often experience a profound sense of connection with the universe, realizing that they are not separate from it but an integral part of its vast and mysterious existence.
Awakening to higher consciousness is a transformative process. It often begins with an inner calling—an unshakable feeling that there is more to life than material success and worldly pleasures. This realization can emerge through deep reflection, personal struggles, or even spontaneous moments of enlightenment. As one embarks on the path of self-discovery, old beliefs and conditioned patterns begin to dissolve, making way for a more expansive understanding of life. True spiritual awakening is not about accumulating knowledge but about experiencing a shift in perception—one that transcends fear, attachment, and limitation.

From the iconic stylist and fashion provocateur whose designs transformed culture—bringing the glitz of Studio 54 and the sophistication of Sex and the City to the mainstream—comes a playful yet intimate memoir of a life spent challenging conventions.

Carrie Bradshaw’s pairing of a tutu with a tank top is one of the most iconic outfits ever seen on television—and a look that turned avant-garde New York designer and stylist Patricia Field into a household name. But before she was crowned the fairy godmother of haute couture, Field was the owner of the longtime East Village emporium Pat Field, a haven for drag queens, club kids, starving artists, NYU freshmen, and creative visionaries alike. Presiding over downtown with her distinctive vermillion hair and a constantly lit cigarette, Patricia was a rock ’n’ roll den mother to everyone from Amanda Lepore to Lady Bunny to Patti Smith, with her store providing the city’s eccentrics with a place to discover a sense of family, home, and a rhinestone bedazzled bustier or two.
In Pat in the City, Patricia describes her journey from scrappy Queens kid peddling men’s pants to the fashion world’s most notorious renegade. As the daughter of immigrant parents, Field learned the principles of glamour from her entrepreneurial mother, and applied her NYU lessons on democracy to inform a fashion ethos that would reach millions. From her Studio 54 disco-glam styling to her award-winning work in The Devil Wears Prada and Sex and the City to today’s buzzy costuming in Emily in Paris, Field’s inimitable styling has pushed the envelope and created trends that have become the culture standard. Now in her seventies, Patricia Field is ready to tell her story—not to take a final bow, but to spread her credo of challenging convention and filling the world with joy and dancing.

Anthony Trollope’s novels contain vivid character sketches of clergy, from bishops to curates, as watchers of the BBC TV Barchester series will know. Here are priests where snobbery, jealousy, ambition and greed sit alongside love, kindness and generosity, often in equal measure.

Alongside each of his twelve pictures of Trollopian priests, Michael Higgins has created their modern counterparts, Trollope’s Church of England may have been better attended and more prosperous than it is today yet the humble, quiet and attractive Mr Harding and the climbing ambitious Mr Slope still walk the streets of our parishes. They stand as living proof human nature never changes, the simple truth underlined by each pair of characters in this book.

Here is a gripping, thought provoking read which will tell you more about clergy than you knew or imagined – whether you are “into” Church matters or a curious outsider.
