Beschreibung

In an era marked by apathy and cynicism, Apathy: The Demise of Political Ideas offers a profound exploration of the diminished political landscape that threatens the foundations of democratic societies. This book delves into the erosion of utopian visions, the decline of political ideologies, and the rise of a pervasive apathy that has stifled meaningful political discourse.

Author Pasquale De Marco meticulously dissects the transformation of leftist politics, tracing its abandonment of class struggle, its embrace of capitalism, and its celebration of mass culture. This transformation has resulted in a profound loss, leaving a void where once stood a vibrant force for social justice and equality.

The rise of neoliberalism, with its unwavering belief in free market ideology and deregulation, has further exacerbated the decline of political ideas. This ideology has led to a widening gulf between the rich and the poor, the erosion of public services, and the commodification of politics itself.

The consequences of this political malaise are dire. Democracy, the very foundation of our societies, is under siege, plagued by declining voter turnout, rising political polarization, and a pervasive distrust in government. The erosion of democratic norms and institutions further undermines the ability of citizens to hold their leaders accountable and shape their own destinies.

Yet, amidst this bleak landscape, glimmers of hope emerge. The book explores the potential for a progressive revival, the need for new political ideas, and the role of technology in shaping a more participatory and democratic future.

Apathy: The Demise of Political Ideas is a timely and thought-provoking examination of the challenges facing our political systems. It is a call to arms, urging us to confront the forces that seek to stifle political engagement and undermine our democratic values. Only by rekindling our belief in the power of collective action and embracing a renewed commitment to civic engagement can we hope to forge a path toward a more just and equitable society.

    THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER
The inside story of Mikel Arteta’s astonishing transformation of Arsenal
November 2019. Unai Emery’s final game as Arsenal manager sees the Gunners languishing eighth in the league. Appointed in the dying embers of the Wenger years, Emery’s 18 months as Arsenal boss has seen the team and the club go backwards – playing unimaginative, pragmatic football, and recently losing to London rivals Chelsea in the final of the Europa League. Something had to change; a fresh head with fresh ideas. A new leader.
This is the story of how Mikel Arteta turned Arsenal into one of the most exciting, innovative and feared teams in the league. From cutting his teeth as an assistant under Pep Guardiola before joining Arsenal in the winter of 2019, through to title contenders years later – including bust-ups, Covid, disappointments, FA Cup wins, fan revolt, and eventually the rise of an extraordinary young team standing on the edge of greatness – this book will be the first of its kind to explore the workings of Arteta’s philosophy and how he transformed the club from outsiders to title challengers.
With chapters on his tactical innovations, in-game strategies, transfer insight and, of course, an account of the memorable 2022-23 season – Revolution is the story of an extraordinary football ascent and the first draft of Arsenal’s new history.
The latest bestseller, Revolution, is a non-fiction masterpiece that chronicles the rise of Arsenal in the 21st century under the leadership of Mikel Arteta. It provides an in-depth look into the economics and management strategies employed, making it a must-read for fans and business enthusiasts alike.

“Yes you will absolutely be reborn, yes you will rebuild something more beautiful than before, but essentially a death took place in that moment and that is irreversible…”
    -a Survivor

It is an honor and a privilege to be an ally to a survivor of sexual assault. She allows you close to her pain and you help her heal—with no expectations on her. It’s not a commitment to enter lightly.
If Jesus has burdened your heart for a survivor, but you don’t know what to do, start with this book. It will take work, prayer, and patience, but she’s worth it.

The book has four main sections:
    1) What it means to be a survivor.
    2) What it means to be an ally.
    3) How to be an ally.
    4) Reach out to her.

My intent is to break your heart and prepare you to be the ally your survivor friend needs. You will learn about the crime, read four other books (listed below), and then, with your friend’s permission, you’ll write a series of letters meant to encourage her and build an allyship. It’s a process designed around her, her needs, and her safety.

And who am I, you ask? I’m no one special, but God used my friendship with a survivor to call me to this work. I’ve had the privilege of getting to know many more, and their voices are found all through this text. My hope is to encourage men to get involved in allyship and advocacy.

Love encompasses a range of strong and positive emotional and mental states, from the most sublime virtue or good habit, the deepest interpersonal affection, to the simplest pleasure. An example of this range of meanings is that the love of a mother differs from the love of a spouse, which differs from the love for food. Most commonly, love refers to a feeling of strong attraction and emotional attachment.

Written in 731 AD, The Ecclesiastical History of the English People is a foundational chronicle by the monk Bede, detailing the history of Christianity in England from the Roman period to the early 8th century. Covering the arrival of St. Augustine, the spread of the faith, and the struggles between rival Christian traditions, Bede blends fact, hagiography, and theological reflection into a cohesive narrative. He highlights key figures like St. Cuthbert and Queen Ethelburga, while emphasizing divine providence in shaping England’s spiritual destiny. Though shaped by its author’s monastic perspective, the work remains an essential source for understanding early medieval Britain, the development of the English Church, and the cultural foundations of English identity.
