In "America's Moral Crossroads: Ideological Clashes and the Battle for the Nation's Future," we embark on a thought-provoking journey through the complex tapestry of issues that divide and unite the United States of America. With meticulous analysis and insightful commentary, this book delves into the moral, political, economic, and social challenges that shape the nation's destiny.

We explore the evolving landscape of American morality, examining the clash between individualism and collectivism, the influence of religion and social media on moral beliefs, and the generational divide that shapes our values. We analyze the rise of political polarization and the impact of ideology on policy decisions, highlighting the urgent need to bridge the partisan divide and restore faith in our democratic institutions.

Furthermore, we investigate the growing economic disparities that plague our society, exploring the widening gap between the rich and the poor, the struggle for economic opportunity, and the impact of globalization on the American workforce. We question whether economic equality is attainable and discuss potential paths to a more just and equitable economy.

We also explore the complexities of racial and ethnic identity in America, acknowledging the legacy of racism and the ongoing fight for racial justice. We examine the changing face of America, shaped by immigration and identity politics, and discuss the challenges and opportunities of building a truly inclusive society.

Additionally, we delve into the fight for gender equality and LGBTQ+ rights, recognizing the progress made and the challenges that remain. We examine the role of feminism in shaping society and discuss the path towards a more equitable future for all genders and sexual orientations.

Finally, we turn our attention to the urgent issue of environmental stewardship, recognizing the impact of human activity on the planet. We discuss the challenges of climate change, the importance of sustainable living, and the role of government in protecting our environment.

"America's Moral Crossroads" is a clarion call for unity and understanding, a roadmap for navigating the complex challenges that confront our nation. It is a must-read for anyone concerned about the future of America and committed to building a more just, equitable, and harmonious society.

The concept of the intact mind, first described in a 2006 memoir, refers to the idea that inside every autistic child is an intelligent, typical child waiting to be liberated by the right diet, the right treatment intervention, the right combination of supports and accommodations. The sentiment itself is not new. Though the idea gives hope to parents devastated by a child's diagnosis, Amy Lutz argues that it has also contributed to widespread dismantling of services badly needed by severely disabled children and their families.

In Chasing the Intact Mind, Lutz traces the history of the intact mind concept, explaining how it influences current policy and practice affecting those with autism. Lutz provides a historical analysis of the intact mind narrative and describes how the concept—originally unique to autism—has come to inform current debates at the heart of intellectual and developmental disability practice and policy in the United States. Lutz argues that focusing on the intact mind and marginalizing those with severe disability reproduces historic patterns of discrimination that yoked human worth to intelligence, and that it is only by making space for the impaired mind that we will be able to resolve these ongoing clashes—as well as even larger questions of personhood, dependency, and care.

Canada must prepare for an isolationist and unpredictable neighbor to the South should a MAGA leader gain the White House in 2025.

The American-led global order has been increasingly challenged by Chinese assertiveness and Russian revanchism. As we enter this new era of great-power competition, Canadians tend to assume that the United States will continue to provide global leadership for the West.

Canada Alone sketches the more dystopian future that is likely to result if the illiberal, anti-democratic, and authoritarian Make America Great Again movement regains power. Under the twin stresses of a reinvigorated America First policy and the purposeful abandonment of American global leadership, the West will likely fracture, leaving Canadians all alone with an increasingly dysfunctional United States. Canada Alone outlines what Canadians will need to navigate this deeply unfamiliar post-American world.

“[A] fascinating, informative, and highly entertaining primer on the various ways the uninitiated may find themselves ripped off by a con artist.” —Publishers Weekly   No one thinks it can happen to them, but Americans are forty times more likely to be defrauded than to have their cars stolen or their homes burgled. Con artists ruin people financially and emotionally, leaving in their wake a trail of destruction, broken hearts, and deflated dreams.    The first step to combating fraud is to understand it. What do scams look like? Why are they effective? The next step is to take action. How can we protect ourselves and our families? The Con: How Scams Work, Why You’re Vulnerable, and How to Protect Yourself informs and engages with accessible stories of ordinary people from all walks of life thrown into unexpected and disorienting circumstances. The book goes behind the scenes of real-world cons to examine the logistics and psychology that enable scams to succeed. The goal is to help people understand and recognize deception, and in the same way that they avoid other potentially dangerous situations, take a detour. Once readers have gained a clear idea of what scams look and sound like and learned simple strategies to reduce personal risk, protecting themselves will be just as instinctive as putting on a seat belt.  “This compelling work goes a long way toward putting distance between scammers and their prey.” —Foreword Reviews  “Completely fascinating and insightful.” —Booklist

    Detransition - Beyond Before and...

I experienced my transition as a form of resistance, but in reality it only affirmed the same stereotypes that had done me harm to begin with. Trying to prevent myself from committing suicide by becoming less recognizably female was an attempt at resistance that, politically, functioned in many ways as a form of capitulation.
Many feminists are concerned about the way transgender ideology naturalizes patriarchal views of sex stereotypes, and encourages transition as a way of attempting to escape misogyny.
In this brave and thoughtful book, Max Robinson goes beyond the ' before' and ' after' of the transition she underwent and takes us through the processes that led her, first, to transition in an attempt to get relief from her distress, and then to detransition as she discovered feminist thought and community.
The author makes a case for a world in which all medical interventions for the purpose of assimilation are open to criticism. This book is a far-reaching discussion of women' s struggles to survive under patriarchy, which draws upon a legacy of radical and lesbian feminist ideas to arrive at conclusions. Robinson' s bold discussion of both transition and detransition is meant to provoke a much-needed conversation about who benefits from transgender medicine and who has to bear the hidden cost of these interventions.
Transition is not an unconstrained choice when we are fast-tracked to medical intervention as if being female was a tumor that required immediate removal to save our lives.
