Synopsis

The Śāṇḍilya-bhakti-sūtra, compiled by Sage Śāṇḍilya, is an essential text in the bhakti tradition and Vaiṣṇavism at large. Its ontological exploration of bhakti helps the seeker map out the process by which bhakti emerges, grows and, ultimately, leads one to the absolute peak of spiritual experience.

Given Sage Śāṇḍilya’s more pragmatic, philosophical leanings, Paramahamsa Vishwananda’s commentaries serve as a perfect balancing act. Focusing on the experiential and emotional dimensions of the sūtras, what we are left with is an impeccable combination of intellectual and experiential nourishment.

The transcendent world of the Lord, of true love, and bliss is impossible for the mind to fully grasp, but this book aims to serve as a compass pointing in its direction. The journey will always be unique and ours to undertake, but the guidance and framework gifted to us by the joint efforts of Sage Śāṇḍilya and Paramahamsa Vishwananda will surely help make it as smooth a ride as it could ever possibly be.

    The Holy Quran
The Holy Quran, regarded as the divine revelation in Islam, is the sacred scripture believed by Muslims to be the literal word of God (Allah) revealed to Prophet Muhammad through the Angel Gabriel over 23 years. Comprising 114 chapters (Surahs) and 6,348 verses (Ayahs), it serves as the ultimate guide for faith, ethics, law, and spiritual growth. The Quran’s literary excellence in Arabic remains unparalleled, with its rhythmic prose and profound depth considered a miracle (I'jaz) that transcends human capability.
Organized thematically rather than chronologically, it addresses diverse subjects: monotheism, moral conduct, historical accounts of prophets, social justice, and prophecies. Key teachings emphasize compassion, justice, and the accountability of human actions in the afterlife. Muslims worldwide recite and memorize its verses daily, preserving its text unchanged since the 7th century.
The Quran’s compilation began during Prophet Muhammad’s lifetime, with written fragments later standardized under Caliph Uthman to eliminate discrepancies. Its preservation combines oral tradition (Hifz) and meticulous manuscript transcription, ensuring textual integrity—a phenomenon Muslims attribute to divine protection.
Beyond religious practice, the Quran has shaped Islamic art, literature, and legal systems, influencing civilizations globally. It remains a cornerstone of Islamic identity, uniting over a billion believers in worship and ethical living. As Allah declares in the Quran: “We have revealed the Reminder, and We will surely preserve it” (15:9).

A Classic Essay on Penal Substitutionary Atonement from Theologian J. I. Packer
Penal substitutionary atonement—the belief that Jesus's death on the cross satisfied God's wrath against sin—is central to the Christian faith, but frequently debated. Is it just to punish an innocent person in place of the guilty? How can the temporary death of one substitute for the eternal death of many? Why doesn't the cross grant Christians unlimited permission to sin?
In this famous essay, late theologian J. I. Packer analyzes Scripture and the works of early Reformers to defend the truth of Christ's substitutionary suffering and death, the heart of the Christian gospel. Considered one of the most significant short works on penal substitutionary atonement from the 20th century, this careful, concise essay has influenced prominent theologians and is essential reading for students, pastors, and laypeople.

    - From Renowned Theologian J. I. Packer: This work was originally delivered as a Tyndale Biblical Theology Lecture
    - Part of the Crossway Short Classics Series: Other titles include The Lord's Work in the Lord's Way and No Little People; The Life of God in the Soul of Man; and Fighting for Holiness

A Christian case for natural burial

The promises of the Christian gospel are never more precious or more beautiful than in the context of death and burial. And yet current burial practices in Western society are archaic and impersonal. They fail to confront us with the reality of death, and they make it harder to process death or to grieve properly.

Kent Burreson and Beth Hoeltke have been teaching a Christian understanding of death and natural burial for many years. They argue that natural burial—laying the body into the earth in a way that allows it to decompose naturally—is not only better for the environment but is also a more accurate picture of Christian hope of the resurrection. Grounded in sound Christian teaching about death and burial, they advocate for natural burial and offer practical instructions for navigating the complex questions around burial practices.

Lay Me in God's Good Earth is not only an immensely practical guide to natural burial; it is also an application of the hope of the resurrection to those grieving the loss of their loved ones.
