Summary

Welcome to the town of Bloodson Bay, where the people are strange and the rising body count even stranger.
Peace Christie was warned never to visit the Slaughter Shed, an abandoned house at the edge of her farm. For good reason, because of its unexplainable mysteries since the unsolved murder of a family who lived there. Like a corpse vanishing from its rafters, and a girl's body recently found in the basement.
When the news breaks with the identity of the girl, Peace has no choice but to uncover the secrets of the house. But someone will kill to keep the truth hidden...
One night, Peace finds an ancient journal that exposes the terrible history of the Slaughter Shed. As she reads each entry, more details unravel about who is behind the murders.
And then Peace reaches the last page.
She must return to the house...but she may not make it out alive.
Throw on your favorite flannel and combat boots, then dive into this 1990s throwback thriller that smells like teen spirit as Peace risks her so-called life to stop a century-old murder spree...

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are visited by John Hector McFarlane, a young lawyer from Blackheath who has been accused of murdering one of his clients – builder Jonas Oldacre. McFarlane explains to Holmes that Oldacre had come to his office the day before and asked him to draw up his will in proper legal form. To his surprise, Oldacre was making him the sole beneficiary to a considerable bequest. Later, McFarlane went to Oldacre's house in Lower Norwood to deliver the will and go over some additional documents. McFarlane left quite late and stayed at a local inn. On the train the next morning, he read in the newspaper about the apparent murder and that the police were looking for him.
The evidence against McFarlane is quite damning: his bloody stick was found in Oldacre's study, and outside is a pile of dry timber burnt to ashes, smelling of burnt flesh. Inspector Lestrade, who comes to arrest McFarlane, gloats in the apparent knowledge that he is on the right track. Holmes begins his own investigation by going to Blackheath instead of Norwood. There he learns that McFarlane's mother was once engaged to Oldacre, but broke up with him once she found out his cruel nature. Holmes also notes that Oldacre's draft will was written in a very haphazard fashion, as if he didn't care about it. Holmes also discovers large payments from Oldacre's bank account to a "Mr Cornelius". Holmes then visits Oldacre's house, where he inspects the study. Lestrade produces Oldacre's trouser buttons, found in the ashes of the fire. Holmes fears the worst: "All my instincts are in one direction, and all the facts are in another." Still, Holmes suspects Oldacre's housekeeper is deliberately withholding information.

The Psychic Megan Series consists of twenty-three novelettes about a young girl`s growing realisation that she is able to do things that none of her family can. Megan is twelve years old in the first volume. She has two seemingly insurmountable problems. Her mother is frightened of her daughter`s latent abilities and not only will not help her but actively discourages her; and she can’t find a teacher to help her develop her supernatural, psychic powers. For she wants not only to know what it is possible to do and how to do it, but to what end she should put her special abilities. Megan is a good girl, so it would seem obvious that she would tend towards using her powers for good, but it is not always easy to do the right thing even if you know what that is.
These stories about Megan will appeal to anyone who has an interest in psychic powers, the supernatural and the paranormal and is between the ages of ten and a hundred years old.
In Megan`s Followers, Megan`s parents allow her to open accounts with the most popular social media companies. They don`t know much about it themselves, but they had read that it was not advisable for children under thirteen to join. Since she had recently passed that age, they had no objection. Megan soon devises ways of gaining followers and influencing them through her various activities at school. She is surprised to find out that her posts are going around the world, and one `dear old friend` contacts her to join her followers. She is over the Moon, but also discovers how easy it is to become vulnerable to predators!

The Haunter of the Ring by Robert E. Howard is a supernatural horror story steeped in dark magic, occultism, and the perilous consequences of meddling with ancient forces. The narrative follows John Kirowan, a recurring character in Howard's mythos, who is drawn into a sinister plot involving a cursed ring and a malevolent spirit. The story begins when Kirowan's friend, John Conrad, reaches out to him in desperation. Conrad's wife, Evelyn, has been behaving strangely, seemingly under the influence of a powerful, malevolent force. Conrad reveals that Evelyn has been possessed by the spirit of a vengeful sorcerer, instigated by a cursed artifact—a serpent-shaped ring with a dark history. The ring, imbued with ancient and evil powers, once belonged to an evil sorcerer from the distant past. The sorcerer's spirit haunts the wearer of the ring, controlling them to enact its wicked will.Kirowan, familiar with the occult and the dangers it poses, recognizes the severity of the situation and agrees to help. As the story unfolds, he confronts the sorcerer's restless spirit, a demon-like figure that manipulates the living to further its sinister goals. The ring is revealed to be more than a simple artifact, serving as a conduit through which the sorcerer's dark magic can continue to influence the world from beyond the grave.Through a combination of knowledge, occult expertise, and sheer courage, Kirowan battles to break the hold of the cursed ring and save Evelyn from its terrifying grip. The climax of the story is intense and suspenseful, as Howard skillfully combines elements of adventure and horror. The Haunter of the Ring is a classic example of Howard's mastery in weaving tales of the supernatural, exploring the dangers of delving into forbidden knowledge, and the timeless struggle between good and evil.
