Synopsis

A fast-paced, wonderfully engaging Regency romp. Inspired by To Have His Cake (and Eat it Too): Mr. Darcy's Tale, the provocative Pride and Prejudice variation, this story has all the passion you might expect of a worldly gentleman violently in love, along with enough mischief and intrigue to keep you turning the pages.

Readers Said:

❝While keeping the beloved Pride and Pride story in motion and being respectful of the Austen characters we adore, Dixon creates a continuing tale with romance and intrigue.❞ Erlynn K. - Books Hug Back

❝Another amazingly well written story by Ms. Dixon that's sure to become a classic in its own right!❞ Liz C. - Liz's Darcy Filled World

Colonel Richard Fitzwilliam enjoyed making light of Darcy's deep affection for Miss Elizabeth Bennet in what seemed destined to be an unrequited love. After Darcy won Elizabeth's heart and made her his wife, Richard continued his wont of taunting his love-sick friend.

Now, the proverbial shoe is on the other foot. It's Darcy's turn to make light of Richard's struggles to prove himself worthy of pleasing the woman in his life. Can Richard stay true to his purpose or will the worrisome winds of ill fate intervene?

    Certain Personal Matters...

Certain Personal Matters is an 1897 collection of essays selected by H. G. Wells from among the many short essays and ephemeral pieces he had written since 1893. The book consists of thirty-nine pieces ranging from about eight hundred to two thousand words in length. The essays in Certain Personal Matters rely on stock characters that Wells developed in his early days as a writer. This vein was inspired by his reading of When a Man's Single, an 1888 novel by J.M. Barrie, in which a character explains that saleable articles can be devised from everyday things like pipes, umbrellas, and flower pots. According to biographer David C. Smith, one character is "probably based on his father (and perhaps partly on his older brothers), another based on his mother apparently (although the character is always referred to as an 'aunt', which may be somewhat symbolic), and a third character, 'Euphemia'. This last is usually thought to be a portrait of Jane Wells, though the figure may have some traits of Isabel (Wells's cousin and first wife) as well."

Edgar Rice Burroughs is the creator of one of the most iconic figures in American pop culture: Tarzan of the Apes. Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar is the fifth book in the Tarzan series and considered by many to be one of the best.
In one of his earlier adventures, Tarzan visited the mysterious, ruinous city of Opar that dated back to Atlantean times and was now inhabited by a strange horde of bloodthirsty, apelike priests headed by La, the High Priestess of the Flaming God. Thence, he brought back very little of the great store of ingoted gold hidden deep in a hill, and was rich for life.
In the current adventure, Tarzan returns to the gold-mining city of Opar to contend with greedy villains and the amorous attentions of the High Priestess. But the priests who work for her have other ideas—they don't intend to let Tarzan escape their sacrificial knives a second time.
