Beschreibung

Something New is a novel by P. G. Wodehouse. The novel introduces Lord Emsworth of Blandings Castle, whose home and family reappear in many of Wodehouse's later short stories and novels; in a new preface added to Something Fresh in 1969, Wodehouse dubbed this series of stories "the Blandings Castle Saga". Plot introduction Young neighbours and fellow-writers Ashe Marson and Joan Valentine, newly met and both in need of a change of direction, find themselves drawn down to Blandings, for various reasons attempting to retrieve a scarab belonging to an American millionaire, absent-mindedly purloined by Lord Emsworth. Once within the Castle's idyllic walls, despite impersonating servants, romance cannot help but blossom; meanwhile, Freddie Threepwood, engaged to the millionaire's daughter, is worried about some incriminating letters.

Clyde Edgerton has four kids ranging in age from 6 to 31 years old. After three decades of fatherhood, there are certain things he has learned during his tenure. His way of raising his children involves, of course, lots of humor (don't curse near a mimicking child), but also the sound advice of a lifelong educator (you can't start reading to a baby too early). With Papadaddy's Book for New Fathers, a great storyteller gives wise counsel to new parents - both fathers and mothers, young and old alike. Writing from experience, observation, and his vivid imagination, Clyde Edgerton conveys both caution and joy - mostly joy.

Bilbury Grange is the second in Vernon Coleman's series of Young Country Doctor books. The place is the English county of Devon. The time is the 1970s. A young doctor, just married and in a new home (a vast and rambling country house in desperate need of repairs and renovation), has taken over a small village practice when suddenly the authorities decide that the village isn't big enough to have its own doctor. The villagers decide otherwise. Bilbury is the village everyone dreams of living in. It's the village where people speak to strangers and where doors are left unlocked.
Bilbury Grange is the story of village life in the 1970s, and it centers on the young doctor and his lovely wife. But it's also about the people who live there, and it is a story of great happiness and joy, some tragedy, and many dramas.

Hugo was a dog. He died. Now he's a kitten. As Hugo adjusts to his new body (not just a cat—a baby cat!), his new home (San Francisco), his new outside (Where are the mountains? Where is the lake?), and his sudden urge to sit in every box he sees, he wonders if he'll ever see Cassie or Jerry again.Back in Lake Tahoe, Cassie and Jerry attempt to come to grips with life without Hugo. Cassie fills the void with "Tadpole Guard," "Worm Patrol," and ups her protection of Jerry (her human), who is in the midst of a cataclysmic midlife crisis. In addition to his dog dying, Jerry's last two books have been monumental flops, and he's still reeling from his fiancée leaving him for another man. As if these problems aren't enough, his parents (who have become late-stage hippies) are coming to live with him for the entire summer. And so begins the journey of three souls, intertwined by love, loss, and perhaps something even greater. Told with Nick Pirog's charm and razor sharp wit, The Speed of Souls is at once a hilarious, moving, and transcendent work of storytelling.

A humor book based on the “depressingly astute” blog satirizing the fashionably unconventional yet always on trend. (The New Yorker)   From the dive bars of Brooklyn's Williamsburg to the dirty alleys of San Francisco's Mission, the urban hipster has redefined American cool with a sighing disdain for everything mainstream. Hipsters are easily identified by their worn-out shoes, fixies and PBR tallboys, but until now no one had investigated beyond the hipster look to the even more hilarious hipster psyche. With personally researched articles, revealing illustrations and helpful charts and graphs, Stuff Hipsters Hate exposes the bottomless well of impassioned scorn that motivates the ever-apathetic hipster, including:   lMATING AND SOCIAL HATES ♠ buying you a drink ♠ monogamy ♠ texting back in a timely fashion   APPAREL AND GROOMING HATES ♠ high heels ♠ muscles ♠ being asked about their tattoos   WORK AND LIFE HATES ♠ full-time jobs ♠ knowing their bank balance ♠ enthusiasm   “Wickedly Funny”  –The Frisky
