Beschreibung

In Megan Goes Hiking, Megan and her best friend Jane travel to St. David’s in West Wales to visit Megan’s grandparents and do some hiking around the local coast and countryside. Megan experiences feelings from the past, especially when walking through an ancient graveyard and standing in the mouth of a cave, that she thinks was probably used for smuggling and wrecking hundreds of years before. The Psychic Megan Series consists of twenty-three novelettes about a young girl's growing realisation that she is able to do things that none of her family can. Megan is twelve years old in the first volume. She has two seemingly insurmountable problems. Her mother is frightened of her daughter's latent abilities and not only will not help her but actively discourages her; and she can’t find a teacher to help her develop her supernatural, psychic powers. For she wants not only to know what it is possible to do and how to do it, but to what end she should put her special abilities. Megan is a good girl, so it would seem obvious that she would tend towards using her powers for good, but it is not always easy to do the right thing even if you know what that is.

These stories about Megan will appeal to anyone who has an interest in psychic powers, the supernatural and the paranormal and is between the ages of ten and a hundred years old.

Not Just Music─The Enduring Legacy of GothDive deep into the tumultuous era of Margaret Thatcher’s 1980s England and the profound impact of goth on a generation of alienated youthsGoth's emergence defied a political era. As Margaret Thatcher's iron grip tightened around Britain, catalyzed by events like the miners' strikes and the rise of privatization, an unexpected counter-culture began to take root. Bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and Joy Division, offspring of punk's raw energy, found a way to articulate the disillusionment of the times. Through their evocative sounds and iconography, they ushered in a musical movement that mirrored the societal shifts.Politics and music find an unusual nexus. The story of goth isn't merely a tale of alienated youths or atmospheric tunes. It’s a narrative deeply intertwined with the Yorkshire Ripper's horrors, Sid Vicious's tragedy, and the societal upheavals heralded by Margaret Thatcher, the Iron Lady. Author Cathi Unsworth paints a vivid tapestry, demonstrating how goth became more than just music—it became a reflection of an era's ethos and spirit.Inside, you'll discover:Deep Political Resonance: How goth's dark melodies interlaced with the Thatcher era, the miners' strikes, and privatization.Goth's Global Footprint: The journey from punk's downfall, marked by Sid Vicious, to the international acclaim of bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees.Enduring Cultural Impact: An examination of goth's lasting legacy amidst alienated youths and Britain's counter-culture movement.Historical Synchronicity: The parallel narrative of the Yorkshire Ripper's reign and goth's rise during Britain's most tumultuous times. If you have read books like The Art of Darkness, Faith Hope and Carnage, Into the Void, or Goth by Lol Tolhurst, you’ll love Season of the Witch.

Death Has a Brand New Appetite...

But as Reginald struggles with the downsides of being a fat vampire (too slow to catch people to feed on, mocked by those he tries to glamour, assaulted by his intended prey and left for undead), he discovers rare powers in himself that few vampires have … and just in time, because the Vampire Council wants him destroyed as an inferior representative of their race.

At the Mountains of Madness by H.P. Lovecraft is a chilling tale of cosmic horror and psychological dread. Presented as the first-person account of geologist William Dyer, a professor at Miskatonic University, the story follows an ill-fated Antarctic expedition that uncovers ancient ruins and nightmarish horrors buried beneath the ice. As the team explores towering, otherworldly structures and strange hieroglyphs, they come to realize that they are not alone—unspeakable beings, long thought extinct, still lurk in the frozen wastes.
Narrated by Michael Lyons, this audiobook immerses listeners in Lovecraft’s haunting vision, bringing to life the sheer terror of confronting the unknown. With its rich descriptions, mounting tension, and overwhelming sense of isolation, At the Mountains of Madness is a seminal work in the horror genre, influencing generations of writers, filmmakers, and lovers of cosmic horror.
Originally published in 1936, this novella remains one of Lovecraft’s most celebrated works, offering a masterclass in atmosphere, suspense, and existential terror.

Looking out at the town and the manor behind her, she takes one last deep breath, feeling the warmth of the sun on her face. She knows that her family's story, though filled with sorrow, has finally found peace. And as she turns to leave Harrow, a faint whisper drifts through the air—her mother's voice, tender and proud: "You are free now, Clara."
With a soft smile, Clara steps forward, leaving the shadows behind, carrying only the light within her. The legacy of the Ashfords has come full circle, and a new beginning awaits her—a life unburdened, a future no longer shaped by the darkness, but by the strength she discovered within herself.
