Synopsis

Meet Dave. Dave is Prime Minister. Dave really wants to do the right thing. He keeps telling us he wants to do the right thing. Again and again and again. One afternoon he told us four times in half an hour.

Then he went off and did the right thing. Every morning when he wakes up, he reminds himself to remind us that he's doing the right thing.

But what is the right thing? And what is the wrong thing? And is doing the right thing the right thing or the wrong thing to do? Or is doing the wrong thing the right thing to do when doing the right thing might turn out to be the wrong thing, and doing the wrong thing might turn out to be the right thing?

Next to doing the right thing, the most important thing is to let people know you are doing the right thing. JOHN D. ROCKEFELLER

You can always count on Americans to do the right thing – after they've tried everything else WINSTON CHURCHILL

Sometimes it is better to lose and do the right thing than to win and do the wrong thing TONY BLAIR

If I lose the ball, I lose it trying to do the right thing. That's the way it is. FRANK LAMPARD

Horses have long been admired for their strength, grace, and beauty, but their role in human healing extends far beyond these physical qualities. Over the years, research and practice have increasingly shown that horses possess a unique ability to promote emotional, psychological, and even physical well-being. Equine-Assisted Therapy (EAT) leverages this connection between humans and horses to foster healing in individuals facing a variety of challenges, from trauma and mental health struggles to physical disabilities.
The connection between humans and horses is deeply rooted in history. Horses have been companions to humans for thousands of years, assisting in transportation, agriculture, and warfare. Throughout this history, humans have formed a deep bond with these majestic animals. Today, this bond has evolved into a therapeutic relationship, where horses act as partners in the healing process. Unlike traditional therapies, the equine approach is hands-on, experiential, and often non-verbal, allowing clients to engage in ways that feel natural and safe.
One of the most remarkable aspects of horses is their ability to reflect human emotions. Horses are incredibly sensitive animals, capable of picking up on subtle cues such as body language, tone of voice, and even a person’s emotional state. This sensitivity allows horses to act as mirrors, reflecting back emotions that individuals may not be aware of or may have difficulty expressing. This process can be incredibly insightful for clients, offering them an opportunity to better understand and process their emotions.

Ancient Egyptian astronomy was deeply intertwined with the culture’s religious beliefs, daily life, and architectural marvels. Long before modern telescopes and advanced instruments, the Egyptians observed the night sky with precision, using it to navigate their world, mark the passing of time, and guide their spiritual practices. Astronomy was not merely a scientific endeavor but a fundamental aspect of their understanding of the cosmos and its connection to the gods.
The Egyptians viewed the stars, planets, and other celestial bodies as manifestations of divine power. Central to their astronomical system was the Sun, which they associated with the god Ra. Ra's journey across the sky each day symbolized the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. The Sun’s movement was used to structure the day and marked important moments in the agricultural calendar, such as the flooding of the Nile. The Egyptians also closely tracked the movements of the Moon and stars, which helped them define the months and seasons.
The study of the stars held profound religious significance for the ancient Egyptians. They believed that the stars were the eyes of the gods, observing and guiding humanity. Certain constellations, such as Orion, were particularly important, representing Osiris, the god of the afterlife. The Egyptians’ knowledge of the stars was so advanced that it influenced the alignment of their monumental architecture. The Great Pyramid of Giza, for instance, is aligned with remarkable precision to the stars, showcasing their ability to map the heavens and incorporate that knowledge into their constructions.

River Notes - Drought and the...

From bestselling author, long-time former National Geographic Explorer, and anthropologist Wade Davis comes the story of America's Nile: how it once flowed freely and how human intervention has left it near exhaustion, altering the water temperature, volume, local species, and shoreline of the river Theodore Roosevelt once urged us to "leave it as it is."

Plugged by no fewer than twenty-five dams, the Colorado is the world's most regulated river drainage, providing most of the water supply of Las Vegas, Tucson, and San Diego, and much of the power and water of Los Angeles and Phoenix, cities that are home to more than 25 million people. For the entire American Southwest, the Colorado is indeed the river of life, which makes it all the more tragic and ironic that by the time it approaches its final destination, it has been reduced to a shadow upon the sand, its delta dry and deserted, its flow a toxic trickle seeping into the sea.

Yet despite more than a century of human interference, Davis writes, the splendor of the Colorado lives on in the river's remaining wild rapids, quiet pools, and sweeping canyons. The story of the Colorado River is the human quest for progress and its inevitable effects—and an opportunity to learn from past mistakes and foster the rebirth of America's most iconic waterway.
