Synopsis

This book aims to teach the skills necessary to create iOS apps using the iOS 17 SDK, UIKit, Xcode 15 Storyboards, and the Swift programming language.

Beginning with the basics, this book outlines the steps necessary to set up an iOS development environment. Next, an introduction to the architecture of iOS 17 and programming in Swift is provided, followed by an in-depth look at the design of iOS apps and user interfaces. More advanced topics such as file handling, database management, graphics drawing, and animation are also covered, as are touch screen handling, gesture recognition, multitasking, location management, local notifications, camera access, and video playback support. Other features include Auto Layout, local map search, user interface animation using UIKit dynamics, iMessage app development, and biometric authentication.

Additional features of iOS development using Xcode are also covered, including Swift playgrounds, universal user interface design using size classes, app extensions, Interface Builder Live Views, embedded frameworks, collection and stack layouts, CloudKit data storage, and the document browser.

Other features of iOS 17 and Xcode 15 are also covered in detail, including iOS machine learning features.

The aim of this book, therefore, is to teach you the skills necessary to build your own apps for iOS 17. Assuming you are ready to download the iOS 17 SDK and Xcode 15, have a Mac, and some ideas for some apps to develop, you are ready to get started.

This is a concise summary and analysis of The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, by Thomas Kuhn. It is not the original book and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Thomas Kuhn. Ideal for those seeking a quick and insightful overview.

This groundbreaking work challenges the traditional understanding of scientific progress, introducing the concept of paradigm shifts—fundamental changes in the way scientific communities perceive and interpret the world. It argues that scientific revolutions do not occur gradually but through periods of crisis and transformation, where existing frameworks are replaced by new, incommensurable paradigms. This influential study reshapes how we think about knowledge, progress, and the history of science.

Graphene, bismuth, and Gate-All-Around architectures are no longer distant visions.
The first generation of GAA-based chips is now emerging: TSMC, Samsung, and Intel are beginning production,
with the first commercial processors expected by 2025.
A new era is beginning. From the nanoscopic dance of electrons to the orchestration of matter itself,
Crystal Logic captures the dawn of a technological revolution — where CPUs and GPUs are not merely scaled,
but redesigned at the Ångström level.
A symphony of materials, quantum effects, and topological protection ushers in machines that think, adapt,
and resonate with the hidden rhythms of nature.
Created by Christoph P. Wyss, narrated using advanced studio techniques, Crystal Logic offers a glimpse into
the architecture of tomorrow — shaped in crystal, light, and dreams.

In 1867, John Muir set out on foot to explore the botanical wonders of the South, keeping a detailed journal of his adventures as he traipsed from Kentucky southward to Florida. One hundred and fifty years later, on a similar whim, veteran Atlanta reporter Dan Chapman recreated Muir's journey to see for himself how nature has fared since Muir's time. Channeling Muir, he uses humor, keen observation, and a deep love of place to celebrate the South's natural riches.

Each chapter touches upon a local ecological problem—moving between John Muir's vivid descriptions of a lush botanical paradise and the myriad environmental problems facing the South today. Along the way he talks to locals with deep ties to the land—scientists, hunters, politicians, and even a Muir impersonator—who describe the changes they've witnessed and what it will take to accommodate a fast-growing population without destroying the natural beauty and a cherished connection to nature.

A Road Running Southward is part travelogue, part environmental cri de coeur, and paints a picture of a South under siege. It is a passionate appeal, a call to action to save one of the loveliest and most biodiverse regions of the world by understanding what we have to lose if we do nothing.

Lyme disease is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi. B. burgdorferi is transmitted to humans by biting an infected black-legged or deer tick. The tick becomes infected after feeding on infected deer, birds, or mice.A tick has to be present on the skin for at least 36 hours to transmit the infection. Many people with Lyme disease have no memory of a tick bite.Lyme disease was first recognized in the town of Old Lyme, Connecticut, in 1975. It’s the most common tick-borne illness in Europe and the United States.People who live or spend time in wooded areas known for disease transmission are more likely to get this illness. People with domesticated animals visiting wooded regions also have a higher risk of developing Lyme disease.Cases of Lyme disease have varied yearly but have steadily increased for the past 20 years in the United States.Lyme disease is not common in all United States and is primarily concentrated in the Northeast and upper Midwest regions.
