Miguel Rosado wants nothing more than to see and draw the world … or at least anywhere beyond the four walls of his family’s bodega in Washington Heights.

Too bad his mami and papi have him working long hours after school, hoping he’ll appreciate the sacrifices they’ve made to keep the store afloat. For street-savvy and newly adopted cat Lolo, that sounds just perfect if it means he’s far, far away from the hungry, lonely nights he once spent in the freezing-cold outdoors.

But when Miguel ditches his responsibilities and lies to his parents about joining art club, his dream of juggling it all comes crashing down. Lolo will have to decide if he’s willing to be there for his new friend Miguel through anything—even venturing back into the frightful and busy New York City sidewalks. Can they trust each other enough to take on this adventure together?

January 1948 began a wonderful year for the Lechows. With Father newly returned to Western Germany from a Russian prison camp, they were together again and could enjoy a measure of security and happiness in The Ark, their railroad car home on Rowan Farm. It was a year that held for sixteen-year-old Margret in particular, both joy and sorrow. She found real satisfaction in entering Mrs. Almut's Great Danes in two important shows and in raising several young animals which were her very own. She felt a vague unhappiness, however, when Mrs. Almut's son, Bernd, as well as her own brother Matthias, succumbed to the charms of an attractive, but superficial girl from Frankfurt. But Margret had little time to brood. There was the abused Shetland pony whose life she was determined to save. There was also the problem of Andrea, her younger sister, whose flair for the dramatic landed her in serious difficulties at school. And Joey and Ull, the enterprising eight-year-olds, kept Margret in a constant state of uncertainty with their magnificent ventures. The year brought Margaret new friends as well among them the resourceful young schoolmaster with his plan for rebuilding a bombed out farm, and the American woman, working in Germany with the Friends Service Committee. As in The Ark, her previous book about the Lechow family, Mrs. Benary mirrors the slow changes of the season, come war or peace, the burgeoning of life in the spring and with it a renewal of hope. Once again she creates real people whose joys and disappointments are universally understood, and above all she leaves her readers a sense of courage and faith all too rare in books today.

'The Devil's Hand' describes the life of Andreas Gabriel Klein, who goes from being the 'poster child' of his birthplace to a terrorist and multiple murderer.
Dissatisfied with the injustice of the affluent society, Andreas Gabriel Klein sets off for India to find a better and fairer environment there, but is also disappointed there, returns to Germany, only to visit the now also unloved India again, whereby on the third visit he believes he has finally found the desired goal....
But again, India's misguided policies and the injustice of the Indians towards 'his natives' do not allow him to rest. Andreas Gabriel Klein is involved in the armed
Andreas Gabriel Klein became involved in the armed struggle not only in India but also in Germany, was eventually arrested and spent several years in German prisons after committing non-politically motivated assaults.
After his release from prison, Klein returns to India only to realise that his native people are now no different from the hated black Indians. The embittered man embarks on a private campaign of revenge in which his ultimate aim is to 'eliminate' as many of the hated Indians as possible.
Only the accidental death of a Japanese child, for which Klein is responsible, brings him round and he faces up to the authorities.....
