I followed him into the bedroom. His bedroom, probably. When we entered, he turned on a few small side-table lamps, lighting up the surroundings.
The bed was large and round, perfectly in the centre of the room, which was also circular, with two open bay-windows that allowed the cold night air to enter. Adrian closed both of them and closed the curtains.
At the base of the walls there was a blue cupboard, which matched the furnishings. The floor was composed of old wooden beams, left raw, antique and covered in some places by different Persian rugs.
He told me to lie down on the bed. I did. Looking up I saw that the ceiling was one big mirror, like on the set of a porno movie.
I began untying my blouse, scared. Adrian took my left wrist and he took it to his mouth before I could even understand what he wanted to do. He quickly bit me and I felt the painful sting of blood being sucked out of me.
I began to shake.
‘It really is divine,’ he said, lifting up his mouth. ‘I couldn’t resist the temptation. Now calm yourself down. Today I don’t want to hurt you. Not even one bit. I shall be kind and proper and I want you to feel pleasure like you have never felt before, so you don’t need to fear anything.’
He bent over my wrist and licked it. There must have been some of his blood mixed with his saliva because slowly the bite marks disappeared.
He sat down and took off my shoe. He stroked my leg.
‘Undress, Sarah,’ he said.
I wasn’t at all calm and his little speech hadn’t convinced me, but knowing what my other options were, I decided to undress. I mean, he did just say he wasn’t going to hurt me. I believed that. It still could have been horrible and I was sure it would be, but at least I wouldn’t have suffered physically.
I took off my skirt, blouse and stockings. I unhooked my bra and slipped off my knickers. Naked, I lay on my side and I looked at him.
Adrian took off only his suit jacket, that’s it.
‘Let’s see…what do you enjoy?’ he smiled, coming closer to me. ‘What could this little pet with retreating nipples enjoy?’ he asked, whispering, beginning to kiss me right on the nipples. His tongue tickled me delicately, coaxing my nipples back out. He massaged my breasts with his hands, and then let them slide all over my body.
I relaxed a little. It wasn’t terrible.
‘Oh thank you,’ he laughed. ‘Very kind of you!’

Isobel Violet Hunt was born on 28th September 1862 in Durham. As a young child her family moved to London and Hunt was brought up amongst the Pre-Raphaelite circle of artists.

As a writer she was comfortable and talented enough to write across several forms including short stories, novels, memoir, and biography. Her novels are excellent examples of New Woman fiction and help illustrate her activities fighting for and promoting better rights for women.

Although she remained unmarried she had lovers as notable as Somerset Maugham, H G Wells and Ford Maddox Ford, the latter whom she lived with for a number of years.

Her collections of supernatural short stories contain much of her best work and despite her considerable talents and literary output her reputation rests both on the literary salons she held at her home in Campden Hill, where the very best of literary society attended, and for her founding of the Women Writers' Suffrage League in 1908 and her participation in the founding of International PEN in 1921.

Violet Hunt died of pneumonia at her home in Campden Hill on 16th January 1942. She was 79 and is buried at Brookwood Cemetery.

Tomato Sauce - A sadistic priest...

Hanns Heinz Ewers was born on 3rd November 1871 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

His first published poem was at 17 on the death, after a reign of only 99 days, of the German Emperor Frederick III.

A stint in the German military was cut short after only 44 days because of his myopia. Writing was to be the way forward for him with a book of satiric verse published in 1901. At the same time he co-founded a literary vaudeville troupe that toured central and eastern Europe before censors and expenses forced its closure. An inveterate traveller he was in South America when the Great War enveloped Europe and he relocated to New York.

From here his story darkens. Although by now a successful and admired author he was arrested in the U S in 1918 as a German Agent on the pretext of his travels and a falsified Swiss passport. Interned, he was released in 1921 and returned to Germany. He claimed only to be raising money for the German Red Cross.

His literary fame is decidedly easier to clarify. His novels beginning with ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ in 1910 are dark, they bristle with evil intent and are littered with characters who have a dubious moral compass and yet, along with his short stories, are brazen, brilliant feats of literary narrative.

He also wrote and published plays, fairy tales, opera librettos, critical essays and lectured for many years on ‘The Religion of Satan’ and was one of the first to write scripts for the cinema, which he considered a legitimate art form.

As the Weimar republic began its chaotic death throes Ewers became attracted to the rising Nazi Party. At first he was warmly received despite disagreeing with its anti-semitism (his most famed literary character had a Jewish mistress) and he was even commissioned by Hitler to write a biography of the Nazi martyr Horst Wessel. This together with his own homosexuality culminated with his works being banned in 1934 and his assets and property seized. It took him many years to have the ban lifted. This association rightfully clouds his personal reputation but has meant his literary contributions are also overlooked and neglected.

Hanns Heinz Ewers died of tuberculosis on 12th June 1943 in his Berlin apartment.

“An epic thriller about a secret Nazi submarine and its mission . . . a tasty combination of Ken Follett and Clive Cussler” from the award-winning author (The Novel Pursuit).   Cruising from the sub pens of Trondheim under the cover of darkness—undetected by the sonar scans of Allied enemies—Kapitaenleutnant Erich Heinz Bruckner leads the experimental submarine U-5001 in a last-ditch effort for Nazi victory. But their sinister 1945 voyage ends mysteriously: Bruckner and his crew vanish, along with their classified weapon of mass destruction.   Seventy years later, ex-Navy diver Dexter Bucklin stumbles upon an unknown vessel in the depths of the Chesapeake Bay and is consumed with the need to discover its original, terrifying mission—inadvertently alerting a worldwide cabal that knows all about the U-5001 . . . and the keys it holds to even greater secrets.   A thriller in the tradition of Ken Follett and Robert Ludlum, Submerged follows both Bruckner and Bucklin in a narrative that spans generations of adventure and horror—Lovecraftian tales at their most strange. As these men’s lives converge, a third element surfaces, influencing the Kapitaenleutnant and the ex-Navy diver to make increasingly desperate decisions, ones that will shape the future of civilization.   Thomas F. Monteleone expertly blends history, fact, and fiction with a subtle dose of the supernatural in this Lovecraftian page-turner.  Praise for Thomas F. Monteleone   “Monteleone has a dark imagination, a wicked pen, and the rare ability to convey an evil chill with words.” —Dean Koontz, New York Times–bestselling author   “Tom’s an expert storyteller.” —F. Paul Wilson, author of The Keep and Deep as the Marrow   “A vastly entertaining novel of horror and suspense [that poses] difficult questions about the nature of man, God and the devil.” —Los Angeles Daily News
