Beschreibung

In a near-future society where memories are currency and identity is programmable, Lira is a precision-minded memory architect who rewrites trauma into encrypted blocks for the state. She leads a quiet, meticulous life—until an obsolete patch file appears in her private node, showing her somewhere she’s never been… but remembers.Drawn into the shadows of a resistance long thought erased, Lira uncovers fragments of herself that shouldn’t exist. A pendant she doesn’t recall owning begins to warm against her skin. Ghost voices echo in her dreams. Faces she’s never met know her name. And buried deep inside her neural archive lies a sealed protocol that pulses like a second heartbeat. As reality splinters and surveillance tightens, Lira must navigate a maze of suppressed memories, fractured timelines, and psychological failsafes—where the truth may not only rewrite who she is, but also destroy everything she thought she was protecting. Is she the last remnant of a revolution… or the trigger that ends it all?How do you fight a past that rewrote you first?

"The Final Problem" is a short story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring his detective character Sherlock Holmes. It was first published in Strand Magazine under the title "The Adventure of the Final Problem" in December 1893. It appears in book form as part of the collection The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. This story, set in 1891, introduced Holmes's archenemy, the criminal mastermind Professor James Moriarty. Conan Doyle later ranked "The Final Problem" fourth on his personal list of the twelve best Holmes stories.
Holmes arrives at Dr. John Watson's residence one evening in a somewhat agitated state and with grazed and bleeding knuckles. Much to Watson's surprise, he had apparently escaped three separate murder attempts that day after a visit from Professor Moriarty, who warned Holmes to withdraw from his pursuit of justice against him to avoid any regrettable outcome. First, just as he was turning a street corner, a cab suddenly rushed towards him and Holmes just managed to leap out of the way in time. Second, while Holmes was walking along the street, a brick fell from the roof of a house, just missing the detective. He then called the police to search the whole area but could not prove that it was anything other than an accident. Finally, on his way to Watson's house, he was attacked by a thug armed with a cosh. Holmes managed to overcome his assailant and handed him to the police but admitted that there was virtually no hope of proving that the man was in the employ of the criminal mastermind.

A disgraced politician relegated to an ambassadorial post in a third world nation rediscovers the principles that began his career and stands off a tyrant's besieging army to protect the refugees that sought shelter within embassy walls.
The Ambassador is an exploration of the nature of good and evil and a deeply moving story about the power of redemption.

The little girl was gutshot. Her father held her outside the gate. He begged as junta soldiers closed in and rounds CRACKED past and Marines shouted. He begged as she bled.

All the while, her eyes were on me.

    What would you do?

Jackson Ford’s a disgraced former governor who recognizes a second chance when the president’s chief of staff dangles it.
The president needs an ambassador in a third-world nation. Someone to help local tyrants stamp out insurrection while keeping privation and violence out of the election-year news. Jackson Ford is a tough idealist, but, as a result of his fall from political grace, this administration makes it clear that his qualification is best summed in one word . . .
    Obedience.
When a rebel leader shows up outside the embassy gates with a wounded child in his arms and soldiers closing in, Ford can watch the girl bleed out or invoke the wrath of dictators and the president.
Ford’s decision to provide sanctuary puts the embassy under siege.
Ford and the US Marines are outmanned, outgunned, and outmaneuvered by an army outside their walls, even as they’re betrayed by enemies within. Ford doesn’t know if they’re defending the Alamo or Bastogne, but he does know they will not betray the ideals that should stir in the heart of anyone who sees the American flag aloft and under fire.
