Synopsis

The adventure takes a new twist when Jan Branch goes back to her old skills of video making. Amazingly, she seems prepared to work with anyone, even young Timmy Batter, who once tried to kill her. Timmy is happy to stick close - anything to finally find out what happened to his Grandad's 'Treasure'. That haul, however remains elusive, as family, friends and foes alike cluster closer to follow all the clues.
Melia, meanwhile, is severely tested. Her friendships don't seem to be holding strong and even her lover seems unreliable. Jan has warned Melia against the young man, but it is only when his true identity is revealed that she comes to realise how badly she has been fooled.

Fiona Red, a brilliant but quirky FBI loner, spends most of her time in the lab or at crime scenes. She comes from a family used to being around death and bodies, her parents having ran a funeral parlor, and she would have ran the family business if not for a tragedy in her past: her sister was abducted when she was a teenager, and never found.

Fiona remains determined to crack her sister’s case. But in the meantime, as an FBI agent, she applies her brilliance to catching killers and cracking cases that no one else can, as bugs are the first visitors to dead bodies.

With her FBI partner out in the field, Fiona expects to stay behind the scenes.

But Fiona, obsessed with catching killers, takes it one step too far, and may just find herself in the crosshairs of a killer herself.

October 1939—What happens when you run from danger… and into a trap?
After the Anschluss, Austria becomes a place its citizens don’t recognize—especially its Jewish citizens. Whispers ripple through Jewish communities—whispers about a chalet where a woman protects Jewish children from discovery. She’ll keep them safe, fed, and far away from Nazis.
Parents are forced to make horrific decisions. Send their children away to safety, possibly never seeing them again, or keep their families together and risk their children’s lives?
Hans Hartmann arrives at the chalet with a chip on his shoulder and a little girl in tow. He found Grete waiting at the train station. Alone. But life at Chalet Versteck feels more ominous than the streets of Vienna. Children sometimes vanish, and before Hans can figure out what’s happening, a high-ranking officer appears—and is killed.
It’s a race to find out who killed the man and get himself (and probably that pesky Grete) out!
A Ransomed Grete is the bridge book between the 1920s and 1940s Ever After Mysteries, combining fairy tales with mysteries.

The police suspect a simple heart attack, but Buttercup notices the cake stand has been tampered with and the victim's final bite of cake contains a mysterious ingredient not found in any of her recipes. Assisted by her cake-decorating apprentice and the groom's suspiciously knowledgeable brother, she uncovers a multi-layered conspiracy involving blackmail, stolen inheritance, and decades-old family recipes. From coded messages written in icing to cake layers that reveal different baking techniques, every tier tells part of the story. But when Buttercup discovers the victim was systematically destroying local bakeries to eliminate competition for her own daughter's planned bakery chain, she realizes the killer might be someone she's been frosting alongside for years.
