  Frank Sinatra plays private eye Rocky Fortune, a "footloose and fancy-free young man," frequently unemployed, who would then take on a range of odd-jobs that would lead into adventurous escapades. 
   
  Rocky, always ready with a wise remark and a tongue-in-cheek approach, is a magnet for trouble. There is usually a beautiful woman involved; some good, some bad. His tough guy stays just inside the law, though we often get a glimpse of a soft heart beneath the hard-boiled exterior. 
   
  Rocky usually received job assignments from the Gridley Employment Agency, usually referred to as "the agency". During the series, he worked as a process server, museum tour guide, cabbie, bodyguard, chauffeur, truck driver, social director for a Catskills resort and, a carny. He could also fake enough bass to play at weddings and bar-mitzvahs. 
   
  The show aired just as Sinatra was in the running for an Oscar for his role in ‘From Here to Eternity’, it became a running gag that Rocky seemed to work the phrase "from here to eternity" into almost every show.

  William Hogarth wrote his Analysis of Beauty in 1753, during the Age of Enlightenment. Through this captivating text, he tends to define the notion of beauty in painting and states that it is linked, per se, to the use of the serpentine lines in pictorial compositions. He calls it the line of beauty . His essay is thus dedicated to the study of the composition of paintings, depending on the correct use of the pictorial lines, light, colour, and the figure's attitudes. These timeless concepts have been applied by several artists through the centuries. Paintings from every period have here been chosen to support this demonstration. They allow us to explore the various manners in which beauty can be expressed in painting.

  Known for his posters for cabarets and performances, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864- 1901) was the painter of Parisian nightlife par excellence. Completely immerged in the bohemian milieu of the period, he produced numerous paintings and lithographs representing the lower levels of society. More than any other painter of his time, Lautrec stands out as the embodiment of Paris. At night, the city of hidden and frenzied pleasures, as well as of outdoor games during the day; the city on whose perpetual stage-boards the passing show ceaselessly changes into history has never been better understood or more strikingly expressed on canvas. Oscillating between Postimpressionism and Expressionism, he loved to paint dancers and singers at work in the cabarets of the capital. His touch is vigorous, his colors pure. Despite his personal handicap, his numerous works and posters are full of turbulent, incessant movement and figures such as the famous Goulue or Valentin le Désossé. Without doubt too entangled in this Parisian bohemia, he died of syphilis and chronic alcoholism at the age of only thirty-seven, leaving behind a substantial body of work.
