Synopsis

Send Out Your Spirit leads teens through the core truths of the Catholic faith—the Trinity, Jesus, Scripture, the Church, morality, the sacraments, and more—within the specific context of preparing for Confirmation. Rooted in Catholic tradition and adapted for today’s learners, the Candidate’s Handbook provides candidates in junior high and high school with the foundational content of the faith they need as they prepare to personally embrace the promises first made for them at Baptism and renewed in Confirmation. Now in its third edition, the Candidate’s Handbook has been developed in full alignment with the Catechism of the Catholic Church and has been found in conformity with it. This refreshed and accessible edition features a four-part structure across ten engaging chapters, designed to support both candidates and catechists in preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Each chapter includes the following:Introduction—Presents the chapter’s theme and focus.Four Main Content Sections—Teach core Catholic truths, supported by comprehension and discussion questions.Pull-Out Feature—Highlights how the chapter’s topic is lived out in the Church today, often through the example of a saint.Living the Faith—Encourages practical application of the chapter’s lessons through four key actions: Study, Do, Memorize, and Reflect.Designed not only to inform but to form, the program fosters faith-based friendships among adolescent candidates and strengthens relationships with supportive adults—both in their personal lives and within the parish community. Built-in opportunities for study, prayer, and reflection help candidates explore what the Church believes and how those beliefs shape their identity as members of the Body of Christ.Faithful to the Church’s vision that catechesis is an apprenticeship in the Christian life, Send Out Your Spirit emphasizes both what we believe and how we are called to live—in union with Christ and one another—as active witnesses to the faith. This edition also features new “Living the Faith” assignments, engaging new chapter openers, updated integration of prayer and Christian service as foundational components of preparation for Confirmation, and an expanded appendix—all supported by an easy-to-follow design.

If one person told you the story about how they died, experienced the afterlife, and then came back to life, would you believe them? What if thousands of people had similar stories?Research over the past fifty years is finally settling centuries of debate. There's an increasingly credible case that death is a doorway—a case established by the thousands who walked through that door and returned to tell of it. In this captivating investigation, Professor Michael Zigarelli takes you on a step-by-step journey into these breathtaking eyewitness accounts, uncovering seven lines of evidence for life after death, including consistent near-death experience (NDE) reports of the afterlife; corroborated reports where the NDE stories check out as true; the radically transformed lives of those who experienced an NDE; what healthcare workers have observed at the deathbed; and NDE reports from young children and the blind. If you have lost a loved one and wonder whether you might see them again, if you seek assurance that this life is not all there is, or if you're simply curious about the scientific case for the afterlife, Evidence for Heaven offers a compelling, intellectually satisfying answer to one of life's greatest mysteries, What happens after we die?

The Second Epistle to Timothy is one of the three Pastoral Epistles, written by Paul, and is part of the canonical New Testament. It may have been written sometime in 67 A.D. during Paul's second Roman imprisonment. In his letter, the writer urges Timothy to not have a "spirit of timidity" and to "not be ashamed to testify about our Lord" (1:7-8). The writer also entreats Timothy to come to him before winter, and to bring Mark with him (cf. Philippians 2:22). He was anticipating that "the time of his departure was at hand" (4:6), and he exhorts his "son Timothy" to all diligence and steadfastness in the face of false teachings, with advice about combatting them with reference to the teachings of the past, and to patience under persecution (1:6–15), and to a faithful discharge of all the duties of his office (4:1–5), with all the solemnity of one who was about to appear before the Judge of the quick and the dead.
