Synopsis

We have never been more connected—yet we have never felt more alone. Isolation is the great soul wound of our time. As Christians, we know that the church has a unique gift to offer a hurting world: communal life in Jesus. This gift has the power to heal our loneliness and isolation. It is good news for the lonely, the isolated, the struggling. So why does it often sound like bad news to those who need it most? Perhaps because we have misunderstood what the good news actually is—and how we ought to be sharing it. We have collapsed evangelism into offering a golden ticket to some postmortem destiny. But the goodness of the gospel we are called to share is about so much more: shalom, wholeness, and the peaceable kingdom of Christ breaking into the world. This is the gift of communal life in Jesus. A gift that re-ligaments us back together with God and one another.Never Alone unpacks how we can be spiritual guides who help people heal, love, and unleash imagination to create better lives and communities. We all can be instruments to bring healing and wholeness to people’s lives in today’s epidemic of loneliness and isolation.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT INDIA’S GREATEST MYSTIC SAINT!

    THE CHANT

The Hanuman Chalisa is a hymn in praise of Hanuman authored by Tulsi Das. The word 'chālīsā' means the number forty in Sanskrit, as the Chalisa has forty verses. Hanuman is a great devotee of Ram and one of the central characters in the epic, Ramayan. He is also an incarnation of Shiva. The qualities of Hanuman – his strength, courage, wisdom, celibacy, devotion to Ram, and the many names by which he is known are all in the Hanuman Chalisa.

Hanuman is the epitome of ultimate devotion manifested with its full glory unchallenged. By the power of his devotion to Sita Ram, he easily achieved supreme status as the perfect devotee and servitor.

Reciting the Hanuman Chalisa infuses one with unlimited energy and prana. This sacred mantra also increases a person’s resilience and they emerge victorious in every situation.

    THE TEACHER

Neem Karoli Baba known to his followers as Maharaj-ji - was a mystic saint and devotee of Hanuman. Here is the essence of his remarkable life and teachings. He is known outside India for being the spiritual master of a number of Americans who traveled to India in the 1960s and 70s, including Ram Dass and Bhagavan Das, as well as musicians Krishna Das and Jai Uttal.

Dr. Richard Alpert, a former Harvard professor and Timothy Leary cohort, was an icon of the hippie, LSD-fueled revolution of the 1960s. Thereafter, on a trip to India - like Clark Kent changing into Superman - he became the much-beloved spiritual teacher Baba Ram Das. His 1970s' iconic book 'Be Here Now' turned on a generation to the deep, non-sectarian spirituality within us all.

    The Artifice of Intelligence -...

AI is becoming ubiquitous. Whatever its arrival portends for our future, whether riches or ruin, it cannot be avoided. The Artifice of Intelligence explores two questions at the heart of a theological response to AI. Is it possible for human beings to have authentic relationships with an AI? How does the increasing presence of AI change the way humans relate to one another? In pursuing answers to these questions, Herzfeld explores what it means to be created in the image of God and to create AI in our own image. It utilizes and expands Karl Barth's relational understanding of the imago Dei to examine humanity's relationship both with AI and, through it, with one another.

Barth's injunctions—look the other in the eye (embodiment), speak to and hear the other (communication), aid the other (agency), and do it gladly (emotion)—provide the basis for the main chapters, each of which concludes with a case study of a current AI application that exemplifies the difficulties AI introduces into human relationality. The Artifice of Intelligence concludes with an examination of the incarnation, one that points toward the centrality of embodiment for full relationality.
