Beschreibung

After her mother’s mysterious disappearance when she was a child, sixteen-year-old Paxton Graves spent her life just wishing she could escape it . . . until the day she finally did.She always knew she was different: abandoned by her mother and raised by her cold, distant father, who happens to be the principal of Golden Valley High. And then there were the “episodes": her vivid, almost-too-real dreams that would come at any time, day or night, without warning. Then one night she finds herself immersed into the world from her dreams, a very real place known as Terra, and face-to-face with a strange boy named Ari, who introduces her to the world she thought only existed inside her mind. But as it turns out, Terra is in grave danger, living under the constant threat of a group that calls themselves “The Fellowship.” When she encounters a resistance group called “The Watch” that tells her that her mother might not only be alive but living in Terra, Pax has so many questions. Now she must decide: Will she go back to her friends and the only life she’s ever known, or will she stay and join the resistance so she can find the mother she thought she'd lost?

Hugh Lofting created The Story of Doctor Dolittle, first published in 1920.
Kevin Hayes The Story-Man brings Hugh Lofting's adventurous story of Doctor Dolittle to life in this audiobook version.
You may recognize Kevin Hayes the Story-Man from the Nightly Bedtime Story Podcast. Thousands of children and adults from all over the world listen as he tells them a Bedtime Story every night. You can now enjoy his storytelling as he narrates this audiobook version of Hugh Lofting's classic novel The Story of Doctor Dolittle.
If you're not familiar with this timeless classic, it is about Doctor Dolittle; who having trouble making a living as a regular doctor and not enjoying being a people doctor as much as he would like, he decides to take his parrot Polynesia's advice and become an animal doctor. Polynesia, the parrot, explains to Doctor Dolittle that there are no good animal doctors because the vets can't communicate with the animals and when Doctor Dolittle complains that neither can he, Polynesia helps him learn animal talk. Once he learns how to speak to the animals, he enjoys being an animal doctor very much and that is where the adventure begins.
Please understand that this classic novel was written over 100 years ago and although some parts may be considered controversial in today's world, Kevin Hayes The Story-Man does not change anything in this classic novel. It is read almost exactly as it was written by Hugh Lofting all those many years ago.
We hope you enjoy this wonderful tale that started the whole idea of how amazing it might be if we could talk to animals.

The Jade Emperor asked the Buddha to help subdue the monkey after he created havoc in Heaven. The Buddha created the Mountain of Five Elements to imprison the monkey. Five centuries later, Xuanzang, an eminent Buddhist monk, was entrusted by Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty to retrieve Buddhist sutras from the Western Continent. On his way west, Xuanzang rescued the monkey. Enlightened by Guanyin Bodhisattva, the monkey converted to Buddhism and became Xuanzang's disciple to guard him all the way to the Western Continent.
To maintain control of the unruly monkey, Guanyin instructed Xuanzang to put a golden hoop on the monkey's head and recite the hoop-tightening spell to punish any disobedience. The spell caused the monkey to writhe in agony and promise to behave. Guanyin also subdued a white dragon and transformed him into a horse to carry Xuanzang on his journey.
