DESCRIPTION:
My Blue Book of Grammar is a course that has been conceptualized and designed keeping in mind the increasingly dynamic role of the English language in today’s world. Especially in our country, where English serves as the lingua franca, a grammar course has to offer not only an exposition of the pedagogy but also the exhibition of the utility of that pedagogy. The aim of a grammar series should be to encourage the development of competency amongst learners, even though their proficiency levels may vary. While the level of exposure to English of all learners may be different, a grammar series should aid in the development of a certain level of confidence amongst the learners, with the end result being that they are able to converse without hesitation in English.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN
- Understand grammar concepts
- Learn how to use different vocabulary concepts taught through language-in-use

Bestselling author Harriet Lerner is at her provocative best in this examination of fear as the key motivating force in our lives.
Often unrecognised, fear and shame drive our choices and attitudes in ways that most of us never figure out. As Lerner explains, fear is not an amorphous unknown to be transcended or overcome but an emotion to be recognized, explored, decoded and embraced. Once we befriend fear, it can actually help us achieve calm, clarity and fundamental peace.
Lerner teaches us the best ways to deal with fear: to expect, allow, and accept its presence in our lives, to mindfully observe and attend to how it feels in our bodies and, ultimately to own it. We can become experts on our personal triggers of anxiety, learning when fear signals real danger and when it's best to plough through it because it comes with the territory of making necessary changes. The very worst thing we can do in the face of fear is to run from it or try to avoid it. Fear is not something to be conquered or eliminated––or even tackled, for that matter. Instead, we need to pay close attention to the message it is trying to convey.
Using her wonderfully rich and inviting therapeutic voice along with personal memories and examples drawn from her practice, Lerner gives fear its due. We needn't let anxiety, fear, and shame silence our authentic voice, close our hearts to the different voices of others, or stop us from acting with dignity, integrity and brio. We need to harness fear and put it in service to our best selves.

How dull plays are killing theatre and what we can do about it.

Had I become disenchanted with the form I had once fallen so madly in love with as a pubescent, pimple-faced suburban homo with braces? Maybe theatre was like an all-consuming high school infatuation that now, ten years later, I saw as the closeted balding guy with a beer gut he’d become. There were of course those rare moments of transcendencethat kept me coming back. But why did they come so few and far between?

A lot of plays are dull. And one dull play, it seems, can turn us off theatre for good. Playwright and theatre director Jordan Tannahill takes in the spectrum of English-language drama – from the flashiest of Broadway spectacles to productions mounted in scrappy storefront theatres – to consider where lifeless plays come from and why they persist. Having travelled the globe talking to theatre artists, critics, passionate patrons and the theatrically disillusioned, Tannahill addresses what he considers the culture of ‘risk aversion’ paralyzing the form.

Theatre of the Unimpressed is Tannahill’s wry and revelatory personal reckoning with the discipline he’s dedicated his life to, and a roadmap for a vital twenty-first-century theatre – one that apprehends the value of ‘liveness’ in our mediated age and the necessity for artistic risk and its attendant failures. In considering dramaturgy, programming and alternative models for producing, Tannahill aims to turn theatre from an obligation to a destination.

‘[Tannahill is] the poster child of a new generation of (theatre? film? dance?) artists for whom "interdisciplinary" is not a buzzword, but a way of life.’ —J. Kelly Nestruck, Globe and Mail

‘Jordan is one of the most talented and exciting playwrights in the country, and he will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.’ —Nicolas Billon, Governor General's Award–winning playwright (Fault Lines)

We Jews wrongly believe we're immune to alcoholism and addiction—instead, individuals, families, and communities are suffering because of the stigmas surrounding addiction and recovery in the Jewish world.

"Is the 12 step program suitable for Jews? In this book Michael Levin shows with learning, sensitivity and wisdom why the answer is a resounding 'Yes.'" —Rabbi David Wolpe

"Shikkur is a goy." This Yiddish phrase means "Only Gentiles can be alcoholics," but it's not true. Jews suffer from alcoholism and addiction at the same rate as everyone else in society. Due to the stigma surrounding addiction in our community, people are dying unnecessarily . . . because they believe they can't get help. Jews and Booze attacks the stigmas surrounding addiction and recovery in our world.

"The Birth of Tragedy or Hellenism and Pessimism" is a seminal work by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, first published in 1872. In this book, Nietzsche explores the origins and essence of Greek tragedy, arguing that it emerged from the fusion of two artistic principles: the Apollonian, representing order, rationality, and beauty; and the Dionysian, representing chaos, intoxication, and ecstasy. He contrasts these concepts with the rationality of Socratic philosophy and explores the cultural implications of this shift. Nietzsche also introduces the idea of the "Dionysian man," who embraces life's suffering and contradictions with a tragic, yet affirmative, spirit.
