When a group of young Native Americans launches a series of protests against climate change and its effects on the waters and woods of Maine, veteran FBI agent Ryan Tapia is assigned to monitor the movement. The protestors, who become determined to split away from American society, are led by "Peeled Paul" Soco, a Malpense hermit who played a key role in one of Tapia's previous investigations. When the marchers begin making camps on the lawns of luxurious summer mansions along the Maine coast, they win national media attention—and the wrath of a reactionary president.

Tapia soon finds himself torn. He wants to do right by Soco and the protestors, but his bosses at the Bureau are eager to please the president. Growing increasingly sympathetic to the protestors and their cause, he tells them about a possible refuge—a secret CIA base hidden away in the depths of the Maine woods. Enraged, the White House sends a US Army unit to track down the protestors on their stealth march through the evergreen forests. Meanwhile, Tapia's bosses, vexed and embarrassed, fire him and threaten arrest. Undaunted, Tapia snowmobiles through the wilderness on a wintry night to warn the Indian protestors of the impending attack. Building to a dizzying climax, We Can't Save You establishes Ryan Tapia as one of the most compelling and nuanced investigators in crime fiction.

This journey of retribution will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about loyalty, honor, and the relentless pursuit of revenge in the name of justice.
When a CIA officer's wife is brutally murdered by Chinese intelligence officers, the lines between duty and revenge blur. Driven by a primal thirst for justice, Michelle Reagan and her team of covert operatives orchestrate an off-the-books mission to retaliate against the killer. As the CIA navigates a treacherous labyrinth of a Chinese espionage ring, they find their every move anticipated and their every tactic countered.
When the stakes escalate, the mission teeters on the brink of disaster. Will they avenge their fallen comrade, or will they become the next casualties in this deadly geopolitical power struggle?
EVOLVED PUBLISHING PRESENTS a riveting exploration of the dark side of the intelligence services, the human cost of duty, and the brutal toll that seeking revenge takes on both sides. "Retribution" exposes a world in which trust is a luxury few can afford, betrayal is a constant threat, and survival is far from guaranteed.

In one of his later novels, the master storyteller spins a tale of two children switched at infancy. A slave takes on the identity of master and heir while the rightful heir is condemned to live the life of a slave. Twain uses this vehicle to explore themes of nature vs. nurture, racial bigotry and moral relativism. The case of mistaken identity is a theme that Twain explored also in THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER; in THE TRAGEDY OF PUDD'NHEAD WILSON he turns the theme into a well-crafted detective story. It is unfortunate that this is one of Twain's lesser known works as it is one of his most enjoyable reads.

"The Adventure of the Empty House", one of the 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is one of 13 stories in the cycle collected as The Return of Sherlock Holmes.
Public pressure forced Conan Doyle to bring the sleuth back to life, and explain his apparently miraculous survival of a deadly struggle with Professor Moriarty. This is the first Holmes story set after his supposed death at the Reichenbach Falls, as recounted in "The Final Problem". The Hound of the Baskervilles had seen the return of a pre-Reichenbach Falls Sherlock Holmes, which only served to whet readers' appetites.
Doyle ranked "The Adventure of the Empty House" sixth in his list of his twelve favorite Holmes stories.
