Synopsis

Two women. Two revolutions. A lifetime of exile and longing.
In 1978, seventeen-year-old Omid is forced to flee Iran on the eve of the Islamic Revolution, leaving behind a mother whose defiance against the regime has made her a marked woman. Arriving in America, Omid believes her stay will be temporary. But when her mother is declared a fugitive, her dreams of return collapse, and she is left to build a life in exile—one shaped by loss, resilience, and the echoes of a past she cannot escape.
Three decades later, Omid is a mother raising her daughters in Connecticut, trying to bury the memories of the country she once called home. But when her eldest daughter, Sayeh, is arrested in Tehran amid a new wave of protests, Omid's past and present collide. As Sayeh disappears into the underground resistance, Omid is thrust into the same fear and defiance that once defined her own youth.

Spanning two generations of women bound by revolution and exile, Tehran's Daughters is a powerful story of resistance, identity, and the unbreakable ties between mothers and daughters.

A story of courage, fear, and defiance based on the authors own experience. A Packhorse Called Rachel is the remarkable tale of a girl of 20, daughter of a Jewish father, caught in the extraordinarily brutal world of France in 1944. Rachel moves through the book with her faithful dog Nourse, as her work with the Maquis based in the Auvergne takes her perilously close to danger. This account is based on personal experience, and the description of historical events is as true as memory will allow. It is beautifully written and at the same time captures the painful and lonely reality of life in the Maquis. Although all names have been changed, the writing includes some fine characterisations of the friends and foes the heroine meets and it describes the hardships resistance fighters, the Maquis, in the Auvergne had to face, the climate prevailing in winter, the Vichy traitors, and the hostility of ordinary people in Vichy France.
Rachel overcomes the initial animosity and mistrust of the lecherous and alcoholic farmer Raboullet on whom she comes to rely; the wrath of the Gestapo, the betrayal of St Pré, a love and its tragic loss, and yet she triumphs. From the opening raid to the closing trial the book gives an incisive view, as we understand the mind and soul of the resistance better with each page. This is the story of a young woman paralleled with the struggle of a nation as it regains its courage to fight back.

Dragons love longest, even when hope is gone…
As a young woman, Moire Tobin fell hopelessly in love with a brave, loyal, and handsome young naval officer. Nothing, not even her family, could persuade her to spurn the young man. But fate had other ideas. Even when Oliver broke off their engagement, her tattered heart refused to stop loving. Every beat carried with it the promise of hope.
Eight years later, Captain Oliver Hartford returns to the quiet corner of rural Wyldefen. Having amassed a fortune, he is determined to find a wife. Any one would do, so long as it’s not Moire—the quiet, intelligent, and kind woman who still haunts his dreams.
Fate, it seems, has had a change of heart and has decided to throw the couple together. This could be their second chance at love. Dragons might prove the salve that eases old wounds, or they might be the irrevocable wedge that forever drives them apart…
This is a standalone, second chance fantasy romance inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion…but with more dragons.
