Synopsis

In 'Wisdom and Destiny', Maurice Maeterlinck offers a contemplative exploration of human existence, delving into the dichotomy between perceived insignificance and inherent greatness of life. Maeterlinck, with his characteristic Symbolist lyricism, examines the interplay of wisdom and destiny, suggesting that the stature of a life is less a factor of external events and more a product of internal perspective. The essay is not only a poetic journey through philosophical territory but also an exemplar of early 20th-century Symbolist thought, entwining abstract concepts with emotive prose to elevate the mundane to the sublime. The literary style is reflective and dense with metaphorical language, situated in a context where literature became a mirror for existential introspection.
Maurice Maeterlinck's own trajectory as a Nobel Laureate in Literature—known for his mystical and allegorical plays, poetry, and essays—colors his work in 'Wisdom and Destiny'. His preoccupation with life's grandeur and triviality is echoed in the grand themes of life and death that pervade his oeuvre. Maeterlinck's Belgian heritage and his role in the Symbolist movement provide a backdrop for his writings, informing his meditative approach and the profound tranquility that is felt throughout his philosophical ruminations. The intricate weaving of his personal philosophical ponderings into this essay offers a deeper understanding of the author's lens through which he views the world.
This profound work is recommended for those who seek to ponder life's great existential questions and are drawn to literature that bridges the gap between philosophy and poetry. Readers inclined towards introspective thought will find Maeterlinck's 'Wisdom and Destiny' a compelling read, offering a unique perspective on the individual's role in his own life narrative. It is a text that invites contemplation, challenges the reader to examine the measure of one's life through an introspective lens, and provides an enriching experience for those earnest in understanding the spiritual and philosophical dimensions of destiny and wisdom.

Saving Ryan is the inspiring story by physician-scientist Dr. Emil Kakkis about his journey to develop a new, first-ever treatment for an ultra-rare genetic disease called MPS. The scientist had great challenges getting grant and industry support for this rare disease despite the solid science behind doing the treatment. Simultaneously across the country, Mark Dant was in a quest to save his 9-year-old son, Ryan, afflicted by MPS for which there was no cure. Through extraordinary persistence, and with a clock-ticking on Ryan’s declining health, Mr. Dant eventually learns of Dr. Kakkis and his work, whose enzyme replacement therapy could potentially treat Ryan successfully. With renewed hope of saving his son’s life, Mr. Dant turns his attention to fundraising through his own Ryan Foundation to support the continued development of the life-saving treatment. Through an extraordinary series of obstacles and heartaches, Dr. Kakkis develops a successful treatment and ultimately gains the required support of a biotech company to complete the project. Despite early success treating MPS patients, the FDA’s abruptly changing policies caused great uncertainty as to whether the therapy would ever get approved – leading to a dramatic showdown at an FDA Advisory Committee meeting.

The controversy around the case of a former Green Beret’s murder of his wife shows the lengths the government will go to to keep its secrets hidden. It was a dreary winter afternoon in Ayer, Massachusetts, a quintessential New England town, the type which is romanticized in Robert Frost’s poems. But on January 30, 1979, a woman’s scream was heard piercing the northeast tempest wind. In an unassuming apartment building on Washington Street, Elaine Tyree, a mother, wife, and US Army soldier, had her life brutally ripped from her. Her husband, William Tyree, a Special Forces soldier, was convicted of this heinous murder, which he has always vehemently denied. Some elements of this case seem to be chilling echoes of the Jeffrey MacDonald case, made famous in the book and film Fatal Vision. A military doctor and US Army Captain, MacDonald was convicted of murdering his pregnant wife and two daughters but always maintained his innocence. As in the MacDonald case, the case against William Tyree raises questions as to whether the government and military suppressed evidence that could prove his innocence. The Tyree case sent a shockwave through the idyllic community of Ayer, the United States Army, and the judicial system of Massachusetts. This case provoked suspicions of judicial misconduct, government cover-up, clandestine Black Ops by the military, and various conspiracy theories ultimately implicating “Deep State” involvement. The events that took place that fateful day, the subsequent courtroom showdown, and the ongoing legal battles raise provocative questions that continue to revolve around this case to this day.

Jackson, a psychic medium, shares personal and client stories that showcase how loved ones, spirit guides, and the universe communicate through a subtle language that requires a receptive heart and mind to understand. Have you ever stopped to wonder how life has been for the people who have been on the frontline of fighting Covid-19 – their experiences, how they are treated, how they are able to cope with the extreme pressure, seeing death everywhere, and risking being infected all the time?
And have you wondered why nurses would be threatening to strike and others even strike in the middle of the pandemic to get a full glimpse of what has really been going on but has gone unreported?
If you’ve answered YES, keep reading...You Are About to Step into a Frontline Nurse’s World For A Moment, To Get A Glimpse Of Just How This Pandemic Has Been Brutal For The Frontline Nurses All Over The World!
The pandemic has been brutal for nurses and other frontline workers. With nurses always dealing with Covid-19 cases every single day, seeing patients in thousands develop moderate to severe symptoms and others dying of Covid-19 related complications, you can agree with me that nurses have really seen the pandemic from a completely different perspective compared to everyone else.
And this perspective hasn’t been one that anyone ‘outside’ could ever imagine.
From extremely long working hours, the scare of getting infected with Covid-19 to the trauma of seeing disease, sickness, and death everywhere to mistreatment by company representatives to being not welcomed by locals, to someone on the outside, the details in this book will literally make you wonder whether what’s in this book is really true.
Written by one of the many traveling nurses who has been to several states and seen it all, from New York to the Mexican border to Illinois and Texas, her account of her experiences in her line of duty will leave you with a new perspective about so many things about the pandemic.
