Sinopsis

'I write. I demand. I ask.
Not for women to have power over men but over themselves.'
Trailblazing writer, feminist philosopher, and fearless campaigner for women's rights, Mary Wollstonecraft lived a life of courage and determination. She dared to defy the conventions of eighteenth-century Britain, and kept going when many wanted to bring her down.
Maureen Lennon's play Mary and the Hyenas is a searing tribute to the spirit and resilience of a woman who fought for equality and justice – and an exhilarating dive into history and the birth of feminism. Be prepared for petticoats to be lifted, boots to be stamped, and voices raised in the pursuit of change.
Featuring electrifying music by Billy Nomates and performed by a cast of six, Mary and the Hyenas was first produced by Hull Truck Theatre and Pilot Theatre, directed by Esther Richardson, and opened at Hull Truck Theatre in 2025 before a UK tour.
This edition includes the full text of the play along with a range of teaching materials and resources designed to help educators bring the play to life for their students.

An exhilarating and hilarious story about theatre, bravery and how a little voice can make a big difference.
1597, Bankside Theatre. A crisis is underway. The Lord Chamberlain has closed the playhouse and banned the theatre company from the stage. The livelihoods of hundreds of artists are suddenly in jeopardy.
There's only one thing for it: somebody must face the terrors of Blackfriars and travel through London to deliver a petition directly to the Queen of England herself. But who'd be brave (or foolish) enough to take on the task? Enter an unexpected hero…
Jessica Swale's play The Playhouse Apprentice was first performed at the Globe Theatre, London, in a production by the students of Dulwich College.

This is a specially curated, abridged edition. The full, unabridged edition will be available soon.
In a world where we can feel so disconnected, bogged down by the motions and minutes that steal dreams and tuck the self out of sight, Muses and Muscle Memory: The Audio Experience invites you to sneak away and reconnect. There are moments — beautiful, chaotic, and in-between — that make us who we are; they're as ingrained as the bones beneath our skin. And there are muses — bursts or bodies — that inspire us to feel, to explore, to change, or to appreciate. But we need the space: to think, to remember, to create, or just to be.
Narrated by the author, Chris-Ann Miche, and sound designed by Joel Young, each poem pulls you into a vivid landscape of words, with sounds from everyday life, that ask you to sit, listen, breathe, and contemplate.
Touching on complicated themes like memory, grief, desire, love, fear, freedom, and more, Chris-Ann comes out of intellectual hiding to lead you through glimpses of her past and present, to give you a safe place to get lost, a secure place to feel, to linger in nostalgia, to explore longing and warmth, while considering what’s to come, away from the noise of the world.
In the words of RaeChelle-Faith Hamilton, "Chris-Ann truly has a gift. Her uncanny ability to pull you into her world, while evoking treasured moments from your own experiences, reflects empathy, and true craftsmanship. Her collection not only narrates her own life's questions, but beautifully and effectively reflects how we may also perceive the world, but are unable to find the words. Chris-Ann has not only found her voice but has managed to help us find our own.”

Except her mum's got used to having a life of her own, and doesn't fancy giving up pole-dancing class and Tinder to go back to changing nappies and no sleep. Meanwhile, fresh out of hospital with a broken leg, her nan's having a three-quarter-life crisis of her own.
From slammed doors to living-room karaoke, Lydia Marchant's play Mumsy is a sparky, soulful comedy drama about the highs and lows of motherhood. It premiered at Hull Truck Theatre in March 2023.

When an orphaned young woman is taken in by some local do-gooders, she is expected to be seen and not heard.
Dazzled by a pair of beautiful shoes, she sees in them an opportunity to shine – but soon her feet betray her, taking her to places she does not wish to go.
