Beschreibung

Winner of the Trillium Book Award for Poetry (2013)

If it were necessary to tell someone where I am, I’d say the spheres of Kepler resonate like icicles.I’d say I have loved.

These are high-energy poems, riddled with wit and legerdemain and jolted by the philosophy and science of time. 'Time's not the market, it's the bustle; / not the price but worth,'he muses, sailing through the rhythms and algorithms of a world made concrete by Samuel Johnson, before it was undone by Niels Bohr. Tierney's narrators grapple with the gap between what's seen and what's experienced, their minds tuned to one (probably) inevitable truth: the more I understand, the more I understand I'm alone.

What continues to set Matthew Tierney's poems apart is their uncanny ability to find within the nomenclature of science not mere novelty but a new pathto human frailty, a renewed assertion of individuality, and a genuine awe at existence.

'It smothers us with normal,' Matthew Tierney writes in his spangled third collection, 'though we cleave to standard deviations.' Deviant, yes; normal and standard, no. These poems are all quantum fluctuation and collapse, language folding in on itself in the gorgeous vacuum of contemporary culture. 'Every p-brane sweeps out a (p+1)-dimensional world volume as it propagates through spacetime,' says Wikipedia. I have no idea what that means, but Matthew Tierney does. Let him school you.' – Michael Robbins

This book is the last volume of "Kevin Goes to Japan." Now Yukio, Tomoko, and Yumiko have arrived in London. How could Yumiko talk to Kevin with her honest feeling toward him?

    9. Already Being a Domineering Husband?
135 JLPT sample questions and word lists come with the story.
This reading level is almost N1 level because the story goes towards an end, and I wanted to focus on more plots and how the characters feel. Also, the setting is in the UK, which makes word lists longer. Reading my book does not mean that you will be able to speak Japanese fluently, but I believe you will have improved your reading comprehension skills because I made it progressively more difficult from 1 to 4.
The paperback versions will be released soon to check the word lists and practice sample questions for some of you.
I hope you keep learning Japanese through the bilingual novel entitled "Parasite Man," a story about Yukio and Tomoko. (Kevin and Yumiko will be there, but not soon.) Five of Yukio's colleagues weave love stories where they want to be loved. Can they find true love? The first volume will be released in August/September 2022.
Thank you again, and good luck studying Japanese and reading bilingual novels.

What if there were another you?
Another half you weren't aware of, yet others were?
A life lived by someone who looks like you, but isn't you?
And that's only the beginning of the story . . . and the complications.
Saariella Hayes moved from California to New York with high expectations and a dream. Liam Jenkins was a handsome and dreamy, unexpected bonus.
The dream turned into a nightmare, which in turn brought about a reality that shatters her world.
While loyal friends and grumpy bodyguards help her pick up the pieces, only the man she loves can help her solve the puzzle.
    Recommended for 18+ audiences.

'Memory never stops. It pairs the dead with the living, real with imaginary beings, dreams with history.'
She strikes a pose and the camera shutter clicks: a child playing in the debris of the Second World War. Click. A student discovering parties and men's bodies. Click. An activist fighting for the right to choose. Click. A wife picking out a velvet sofa. Click. A mother taking her eldest to judo. Click. A lover, seducing a younger man. Click. A grandmother presenting her granddaughter to the camera. Click.
Les Années (The Years) is Annie Ernaux's critically acclaimed 'masterpiece' (Guardian), charting a woman's personal and political life against the backdrop of a rapidly changing post-war Europe.
Eline Arbo's inventive stage adaptation was premiered as De Jaren by Het Nationale Theater in The Hague, Netherlands, in 2022, with a cast of five women collectively bringing to life an unapologetic portrait of one woman, and a whole continent. Arbo directed her adaptation at the Almeida Theatre, London, in 2024, in an English language version by Stephanie Bain – with reference to translations by Alison L. Strayer and Tanya Leslie. In 2025, The Years transferred to the Harold Pinter Theatre in London's West End, produced by Sonia Friedman Productions.

" Silently / pulling for itself, / the will wants the body to // give it what it wants," Sexton writes in " Between the Car and the Sea," at once a description of a car' s body propelling her onward, and of the poet herself, the one behind the wheel of this masterful fourth collection. In an extraordinary act of volition, the author does not stop at the trope of ambition, but powers instead toward the urgent concerns of the will, and intention.

In Drive, Sexton explores our most fragile points of connection— to lovers and family, to the living and the dead, and to oneself, one' s own life' s work— with the care and wisdom of one who knows these roads. In her hands, these delicate boundaries become navigable. They are both her route and her destination.
