John Wesley Powell was a pioneer American explorer, ethnologist, and geologist in the 19th Century. He set out to explore the Colorado and the Grand Canyon. He gathered nine men, four boats and food for ten months and set out from Green River, Wyoming. Passing through dangerous rapids, the group passed down the Green River to its confluence with the Colorado River (then also known as the Grand River upriver from the junction), near present-day Moab, Utah. The expedition's route traveled through the Utah canyons of the Colorado River, which Powell described in his published diary as having …wonderful features—carved walls, royal arches, glens, alcove gulches, mounds and monuments. From which of these features shall we select a name? We decide to call it Glen Canyon. One man (Goodman) quit after the first month and another three (Dunn and the Howland brothers) left at Separation Rapid in the third, only two days before the group reached the mouth of the Virgin River after traversing almost 1,500 km. Powell retraced the route with another expedition, producing photographs, an accurate map, and various papers, including ethnographic reports of the area's Native Americans and a monograph on their languages.

Coming to Our Senses - Healing...

Ten years ago, Jon Kabat-Zinn changed the way we thought about awareness in everyday life with his now-classic introduction to mindfulness, Wherever You Go, There You Are. Now, with Coming to Our Senses, he provides the definitive book for our time on the connection between mindfulness and our physical and spiritual well-being. With scientific rigor, poetic deftness, and compelling personal stories, Dr. Kabat-Zinn examines the mysteries and marvels of our minds and bodies, describing simple, intuitive ways in which we can come to a deeper understanding, through our senses, of our beauty, our genius, and our life path in a complicated, fear-driven, and rapidly changing world.
Throughout this program, Kabat-Zinn explores various facets of the great adventure of healing ourselves - and our world - through mindful awareness, with a focus on the "sensecapes" of our lives and how a more intentional awareness of the senses, including the human mind itself, allows us to live more fully and more authentically. By "coming to our senses" - both literally and metaphorically, by opening to our innate connectedness with the world around us and within us - we can become more compassionate, more embodied, more aware human beings, and in the process, contribute to the healing of the body politic as well as our own lives in ways both little and big.

Trauma is a negatively life-altering event or ongoing situation that affects us in mind, body, and soul. As Bessel van der Kolk’s (2015) famous book title tells us, “the body keeps the score.” So does the human brain. Trauma, even when the event or situation is long in the past, can haunt us. We may feel overwhelmed with tumultuous feelings, such as depression, anger, shame, and grief. Sometimes it feels inescapable; even when we sleep, we have nightmares that pursue us like a hungry wolf, ready to gobble us up. Our body aches and recalls the feelings of the original event. Trauma is everywhere we turn.Because of this, it sometimes feels that all we are at our roots is our past. It has caused so many changes in us that we may end up thinking that it defines who we are as a person. But this is not the case. Yes, trauma can alter us, sometimes in surprising ways. But underneath it all, there is still the same spark of who we were before it happened.By committing to healing ourselves in body and mind, we can rediscover that spark. We can become ourselves again. We can become whole.

Millions of people around the world have been diagnosed with incurable autoimmune diseases like Addison’s. Debilitating conditions that make us tired, ill, and miserable. The only solution the medical industry offers are side-effect riddled maintenance drugs such as steroids and painkillers.Getting a formal diagnosis of Addison’s Disease is often a lengthy and challenging process. Many never get a medical confirmation of what is happening to their mind and body at all! Countless individuals live in constant pain and discomfort because they incorrectly assume all their health problems are the natural result of aging.Unfortunately, Craig Beck joined this ill-health demographic at the age of 48. After suffering months of severe symptoms, eventually, he too got handed the autoimmunity life sentence. However, rather than accept the hand as it was dealt. He remembered that the best medicine for a long and healthy life is found at the end of your fork, not the doctor's prescription pad. Craig decided to fall back on his research into natural medicine. He designed a diet and lifestyle that made inflammation the enemy and target. A process that would show amazing success at pushing Addison’s Disease firmly into near-permanent remission. In this special Addison’s addition of the Autoimmune Antidote, you will gain valuable insight into the new, natural approach that can help you prevent and maybe even reverse the life-limiting symptoms of Addison’s Disease and other inflammatory health problems. www.CraigBeck.com
