Synopsis

Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin Shelley (30 August 1797 – 1 February 1851) was an English novelist who wrote the Gothic novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus (1818), which is considered an early example of science fiction. She also edited and promoted the works of her husband, the Romantic poet and philosopher Percy Bysshe Shelley.Mary Shelley’s essay On Ghosts, written in 1824, only a few years after the tragic death of her husband, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and published in the same year in the London Magazine, moves away from the traditional Gothic horror of her novels. Instead, it explores the psychological and philosophical nature of the supernatural, questioning why we are so drawn to the idea of the "returned dead".In this work, Shelley adopts a surprisingly skeptical and rationalist tone. She begins by admitting that, despite our modern advancements, the human imagination still clings to the possibility of ghosts. However, her approach is not one of a believer in the occult, but rather one of a keen observer of human emotion.

1947 was an amazing year. Strange green clouds and weird green rockets started appearing over New Mexico and reports started appearing early in the year, well before June 24th when Kenneth Arnold had his famous sighting of Flying Discs or Saucers over the Cascades in Washington. The kettle had been bubbling well before this. Around late June there were quite a few UFO sightings in the northwest of the United States but like 1896-1897, they were moving southeast towards New Mexico and Arizona amongst other places. To places with familiar names like Roswell on July 5th, as well as Barney Barnetts report from July 3rd. On July 5th there was a report from the Plains of San Augustin nearby where a wrecked saucer was found in a gully. Then it was Roswell also on the 5th, and it kept continuing. On July 8th there was another report of a crashed saucer at Socorro which was later to become famous again in the 1960s. This was a very amazing year. I hope that you enjoy listening to it.
