  Vincent O'Sullivan was born on the 28th November 1868 in New York City.  He was initially educated through the New York public school system before finishing his studies in England.  As a young man he remained in London and travelled often to Paris.  
  O’Sullivan lived a very comfortable life with income from the family coffee business.  He had no real need to work but decided that a literary lifestyle was for him.   
  In 1896 he released his first volume of supernatural fiction ‘A Book of Bargains’.  Within its pages were classic stories that involved pacts with the Devil, reanimated corpses and psychic vampires. 
  Over the course of his career, he wrote a mere 10 volumes of short stories, novels, poetry together with some occasional criticism. 
  In 1909 his brother, who ran the company, entered its resources into some terribly mis-timed trades in coffee futures and ruin for both the company and the family quickly followed. 
  From now until his death O’Sullivan was destitute, life was exceedingly difficult. 
  Vincent O’Sullivan died on the 18th July 1940 in Paris.  He was 71.  He was buried in a paupers grave along with the remains of others.

  "The Tree" is a macabre short story by American horror fiction writer H. P. Lovecraft. It was written in 1920, and published in October 1921 in The Tryout. Set in ancient Greece, the story concerns two sculptors who accept a commission with ironic consequences.
  Lovecraft wrote "The Tree" early in his career. He was dismissive of the story in a 1936 letter. Such stories, he said, "if typed on good stock make excellent shelf-paper, but little else." The assessment of Lovecraft authority S. T. Joshi was that although the story "may be a trifle obvious… it is an effective display of Lovecraft's skill in handling a historical setting."

  Their mother is in a coma, and yet the house is anything but quiet at night. 
  Jill and Cheryl are two estranged sisters who are brought together after their mother with dementia mysteriously falls into a coma. Eager to return to their own lives, the sisters wait for an attorney to arrive and finalize the legal issues around the house. Forced to spend time together in their childhood home, the sisters begin experiencing strange phenomena in the house. 
  Creepy sounds carry through the walls at night, nightmares plague them in their sleep, and dark figures manifest themselves in the corner of their eyes, only to disappear when they look at them. The longer they spend in the house, the more they begin to realize that something unnatural is going on. 
  They follow in their mother's footsteps to find the dark secret that drove her to lose her mind and finally fall into a coma. But the more they find out about the foreign darkness that inhabits the house, the more they start to realize that leaving the house will solve nothing, and they have only two choices. 
  Put their differences aside to defeat the evil in the house, or stay divided and share their mother's fate.

  "I hear you could break out of jail if you wanted to," said the guard."Yes it's easy but where's the fun in that," said Lance smiling impishly."What fun can you have in jail?" asked the Kingpin."Not been here long enough for it to be a bore yet," Lance said who was having fun messing with their minds. 
  "I will not do it!" Lance Alexander to his uncle Sergeant Simon Alexander-Drax. 
  "It's alright! You won't be there long!" said his uncle. 
  "Then you go there!" said Lance shortly. 
  Lance's dad the coroner walked into the room. 
  "I can't!" said Lance digging his boots into the floor. 
  "You can't what?" asked Blake Alexander, Lance's dad. 
  "I can't go to prison as the Necromancer," said Lance. 
  "Why can't you," asked his uncle. 
  "Do you think he's the Necromancer?" asked Blake. 
  "Of course not we need a man we can trust on the inside who can pose as the Necromancer to entrap a prison kingpin," said Simon. 
  "You planning to come out as dead are you?" asked Lance not threatening just stating a fact the father of the Necromancer was Mortimer the grim reaper, King. 
  "I am not going to be around for that," said Blake planning a holiday in hell when Lance came out as the Necromancer a serial killer. 
  "Where are you going?" asked Blake's Uncle. 
  "Never you mind," said Blake. 
  "He's a coward," said Lance. 
  "No would you be in my place I can't be deposed as emperor of the solar system if I'm not there," Blake said. 
  "Didn't think of that," said Simon. 
  "I'll do it," said Lance defiantly thinking how much of a problem it would be to his father.

  "Sweet Ermengarde" is a short comic story by American horror fiction writer H. P. Lovecraft under the pseudonym "Percy Simple". As a comedy it is a curiosity of his early writing, and was probably written between 1919 and 1921; Lovecraft scholars state it is "the only work of fiction by HPL that cannot be dated with precision." It was first published in the Arkham House collection Beyond the Wall of Sleep (1943).The story is a parody of romantic melodrama, centering on Ethyl Ermengarde Stubbs and her relationships with villainous mortgage-holder 'Squire Hardman, would-be rescuer Jack Manly and fiancé Algernon Reginald Jones. An H. P. Lovecraft Encyclopedia suggests that a more precise target for Lovecraft's satire was writer Fred Jackson, whose novels often "have exactly the sort of implausibility of plot and sentimentality of action that is parodied in 'Sweet Ermengarde'.
