Synopsis

"All modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called Huckleberry Finn." — Ernest Hemingway

Escaping from his "civilized" life and a violent, drunken father, young Huck Finn fakes his own death and sets off on a raft down the Mississippi River. He soon discovers a fellow traveler: Jim, a man escaping slavery in search of his family. As they navigate the unpredictable currents of the great river, Huck and Jim form an unlikely bond that challenges every social and religious law Huck has ever been taught. Through encounters with feuding families, flamboyant con artists like "The Duke" and "The King," and the absurdities of small-town life, Huck must decide between the "right" thing dictated by society and the "true" thing dictated by his conscience.

The Language of Realism: Twain revolutionized literature by writing in the vernacular. By using the raw, unpolished dialects of the river valley, he gave a voice to the marginalized and the common man, stripping away the artificiality of the literary "high style" that preceded him.

The Great Moral Conflict: The core of the novel is Huck's "sound heart" battling his "deformed conscience." In one of the most famous scenes in literature, Huck decides he would rather "go to hell" than betray his friend Jim. This internal struggle serves as a searing critique of the hypocrisy of a "Christian" society that upheld the institution of slavery.

Why It Is a Cultural Landmark: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a mirror held up to the American soul. It is a story of adventure and humor, but it is also a relentless examination of race, class, and the meaning of true freedom. It remains essential because it asks us to question which laws are worth following and which must be broken to remain human.

    Ezer.
For too long, Ned stood by while his so-called friends tormented a quiet, defiant omega. Worse, sometimes he joined in. But he never forgot the way Ezer made him feel—like his whole body was on fire with the need to touch him, adore him… love him.
When Ezer’s father offers Ned a contract to share a heat, Ned doesn’t hesitate. This is his chance. To protect Ezer. To care for him. To finally say he’s sorry—not with words, but with action. With everything Ezer was denied.
But Ezer isn’t interested in forgiveness.
Somewhere between regret and redemption, heat and heartache, a bond begins to form—one neither of them expected. Now Ned has one chance to prove that what started in pain doesn’t have to end that way.
Bully for Sale features a powerful redemption arc, enemies-to-lovers tension, knotting, pregnancy, and a hard-earned HEA, this story is equal parts raw, tender, and unforgettable.

    Enemies to... bodyguard duty?
Sergeant Nix Marr is a damn good soldier, but she's desperate to leave her haunted past in the bioluminescent ocean, buried alongside old friends... and old flames. Unfortunately, even the icy ocean can't extinguish some fires. When Kessandra, everyone's favorite princess--and Nix's loathed ex--requests Nix's help investigating a massacre in the abyssal city of Fall, Nix refuses. Vehemently.
But Kessandra always gets what she wants.
Consigned as Kessandra's bodyguard, Nix grudgingly boards a luxurious submersible that offers the only transportation to Fall. It's frustrating, irritating, how quickly Nix and Kess fall back in sync--much as she tries to fight, Nix can't deny their spark. But Kessandra wasn't truthful--surprise, surprise--and Nix quickly realizes their "investigation" isn't about the massacre, but rather what caused it: an illness that incites its victims into a violent craze.
When another royal is brutally murdered, it becomes apparent the disease has spread--and no one on the submersible is safe. Suddenly, survival hinges on trusting each other, which would be a hell of a lot easier if Kessandra didn't keep lying. Injured, fighting for their lives, Nix has to decide if she can trust Kessandra again... and what she'll lose this time.
