Beschreibung

Youth Activism Power explores the driving factors and significant impact of youth-led movements in today's society. It examines how young people are actively reshaping political discourse and challenging traditional power structures through both conventional and innovative digital activism strategies. Rising inequality and social justice issues have fueled a surge in youth-led movements globally, demonstrating that young people are not just future leaders but active agents of change.

This book offers a comprehensive overview of youth activism, beginning with core concepts like youth agency and social capital. It delves into various forms of youth-led movements, such as climate activism and political participation initiatives, analyzing their strategies and challenges. It highlights how youth leverage their unique perspectives and digital fluency to mobilize effectively.

The book utilizes a data-driven approach, drawing from activism data, news coverage, and social media trends to provide a nuanced understanding of youth engagement. The book's approach is academic but accessible, making it valuable for anyone interested in understanding contemporary social and political movements. Each chapter builds upon the previous one, culminating in a discussion of the long-term impacts of youth activism on society.

By integrating insights from sociology, political science, and communication studies, Youth Activism Power offers a holistic perspective on youth activism and its implications.

Before any type of unified political entity named Israel existed, the Jewish groups whose descendants would later form Israel identified themselves by their particular tribe. If asked their nationality or country of origin, they would likely identify themselves as Danites (from the tribe of Dan; Ex. 31:6) or Ephraimites (from the tribe of Ephraim; Judg. 12:5), etc. The main way to differentiate these tribes from other tribes in Canaan was their common worship of the deity YHWH, but in terms of language or other cultural characteristics, it would have been difficult to tell a Canaanite from an Israelite.
Eventually, these separate tribes united together as a type of confederation, allies who made a treaty (covenant) to provide military aid for one another when threatened by an enemy state. But it was only under the charismatic leadership of David that the 12 tribes united into a single political entity. Scholars refer to the period encompassing the reign of David and his son Solomon as the United Monarchy. This period, spanning only two generations, was the only time when all of the tribes were politically united, and after a contentious schism that resulted because the northern tribes felt exploited by the Judean kings, the northern tribes seceded from the “United Kingdom” and reverted back to the ancient northern versus southern division of the tribes. The main difference this time was that the southern kingdom now incorporated the tribe of Benjamin, located at the border between these two new nations, within its political borders. The tribe of Simeon (south of Judah) had already ceased to maintain a separate existence. The new northern kingdom adopted the name Israel, while the southern kingdom took their regional name of Judah.

It took less than four hours for Sarah Bailey and her younger brother Curtis to lose everything they knew. She lost her school, her mudpie stations, her church, her father, and her name. Everything they own is packed in garbage bags as they are moved to a new foster home. It’s supposed to be a safe haven for them, but as Sarah—now called Anna—learns, their so-called safety comes at a horrific price, as she is groomed and abused by her new foster mother.
But Sarah/Anna is resilient. She adapts to wearing dresses after only dressing as a boy. She befriends a wild and dangerous horse. And for her first Christmas ever, she receives a rag doll, one she carries with her still today. For a child with so little, the rag doll comes to mean so much.
Based on a true story, author of Just Another Slice, Dr. Zaffarese-Dippold continues to share her foster care story in the series “Garbage Bag Life.” This book in the series sheds light on the grooming behavior of some sexual abusers, and the risk to children in the foster care system.
