Synopsis

Mega Fund Misuse explores the troubling issue of large-scale mismanagement of public funds, examining the political and financial systems that allow such misuse to occur. Through comprehensive audit reviews, the book highlights inflated contract procurement and the lack of oversight in public projects as key mechanisms that divert resources away from essential public services.

One striking insight is how bid-rigging and unjustifiable markups siphon funds into private hands, while another is how absent oversight leads to projects ballooning in cost without delivering promised benefits. The book argues that endemic corruption, weak regulatory frameworks, and a lack of transparency are the primary drivers of this misuse, emphasizing the need for systemic reform rather than focusing solely on individual wrongdoers.

Mega Fund Misuse unfolds in three parts, beginning with an introduction to public finance and auditing practices, then analyzing case studies of fund misuse using audit reports and investigative findings, and concluding with policy recommendations to enhance transparency and accountability. This approach offers a comprehensive understanding of the problem and potential solutions, making it valuable for policymakers, academics, and concerned citizens alike.

You’ve followed the rules, hit your financial goals, and done everything “right”—so why does success still feel unfulfilling?
Luis Miletti Jr., CIMA®, CRPC®, has guided clients across all walks of life through the emotional complexity of wealth—and uncovered a common truth: financial success doesn’t always equal fulfillment.
In The Why Behind the Wealth, he introduces the North Star Method, a research-backed framework grounded in behavioral finance that helps you stop chasing arbitrary benchmarks and start aligning your money with what truly matters. Blending hard-won advisory insight with human-centered strategy, Miletti walks you through clarity, protection, and provision—the three pillars of a purpose-driven plan. Whether you’re approaching retirement, facing a life transition, or simply wondering why “winning” still feels like waiting, this book gives you the tools to turn financial noise into lasting peace.
It’s not about having more—it’s about alignment and purpose.
I’m Luis Miletti Jr., Founder of Miletti Wealth Management and a Wealth Manager with almost two decades of experience in the financial industry. For the past 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with individuals, families and small businesses to help them prepare for retirement, enjoy it with confidence, and create a legacy that lasts for generations.
My approach is deeply personal. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all advice—because no two people share the same story, values, or goals. That’s why I take the time to understand your “why,” and build a plan around what truly matters to you.

The definitive history of the effect of the income tax on the economy.

Ever since 1913, when the United States first imposed the income tax via constitutional amendment, the top rate of that tax has determined the fate of the American economy. When the top rate has been high, as in the late 1910s, the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, and 1970s, the response of those with money and capital has been to curtail real economic activity in favor of protecting assets and income streams. Huge declines have come to the economy in these circumstances. The most brutal example was the Great Depression itself. When the top tax rate has been cut and held at reduced levels—as in the 1920s, the 1960s, in the long boom of the 1980s and 1990s, and briefly in the late 2010s—astonishing reversals have occurred. The rich have brought their money out of hiding and put it to work in the economy. The huge swings in the American economy since 1913 have had an inverse relationship to income tax rates.

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. The journey to homeownership represents one of life's most significant financial undertakings, requiring careful navigation through a complex landscape of lending options, qualification requirements, and long-term financial commitments. For most prospective homebuyers, understanding the intricacies of mortgage financing serves as the cornerstone of making informed decisions that will impact their financial wellbeing for decades to come.

At its core, a mortgage represents a secured loan where the property itself serves as collateral. This fundamental relationship between borrower and lender creates a framework that enables millions of people to purchase homes they could not otherwise afford through cash purchases. The mortgage system has evolved considerably over the past century, transforming from simple bank loans to a sophisticated network of financial products designed to meet diverse needs and circumstances.

The modern mortgage landscape encompasses traditional banks, credit unions, mortgage brokers, and online lenders, each offering unique advantages and approaches to home financing. Traditional banks often provide comprehensive financial services alongside mortgage products, allowing borrowers to maintain consolidated banking relationships. Credit unions frequently offer competitive rates to their members, leveraging their nonprofit status to provide favorable terms. Mortgage brokers serve as intermediaries, connecting borrowers with multiple lenders to find optimal financing solutions. Online lenders have revolutionized the application process, offering streamlined digital experiences that can significantly reduce processing times.
