Beschreibung

All three books in 'Ghost Killer', a series by Margaret Millmore, now in one volume!

What Haunts Me: George is plagued by strange dreams — nighttime visions of ghosts who wander among the living and infect their victims with deformity and disease. A deeply buried instinct emerges: he can kill these monsters and heal their victims. Haunted by suppressed memories, George’s sanity begins to slip away as he becomes consumed with his new responsibility. This dark and dangerous path will lead to new friends and allies, and enemies George never could have imagined.

The Edge of the Cemetery: George works alongside his new friends and assists the Watchers: an international group of ghost killers and supernatural experts who monitor the world for ghostly sightings and demon infestations to maintain the balance between the living and the dead. When San Francisco and the surrounding area are suddenly plagued by rogue groups of ghosts and demons, the Watchers know it isn’t a random occurrence. As George and the Watchers investigate, they discover that a demonic presence is behind the attacks. With the clock ticking against them, they must find the source of the evil and destroy it, or risk extinction of all humankind.

What Hunts Me: In the attic of the large Edwardian house in San Francisco owned by the Watchers, a box is discovered. In the box are various documents of ghost killers and a diary that chronicles an epic journey from Pennsylvania to San Francisco, along the route of the newly opened Lincoln Highway. Strange drawings and nonsensical writings in the diary tell of something sinister. The final entry is loud and clear: the writer of the diary is a ghost killer, and he is being hunted. George soon travels to San Francisco to investigate, and the more he learns, the clearer it becomes that something horrible happened in 1915. A monstrous creature has reanimated, and it is searching for something. As supernatural forces come into play, George and his friends are propelled into a fight for their lives.

    Happy New Year not!
Fate, destiny, purpose what does it all mean?
For Lynn, it means being a loving wife, a protective mother, a loyal friend and now the hidden ace in the hole for a host of earthbound Angels. It also means putting her marriage, her friendships, and her own self-preservation, through the supernatural ringer.
When self-centered, popular restaurateur Kristopher Snow, hidden member of the Earthbound Seraphim and one of the seven Guards of Haven, goes missing Lynn offers up the use of her celestial radar abilities to aid in locating the lost Angel.
Who could have predicted that being related to a preternatural being could be so perilous? DNA doesn't always make you family, but in Lynn's case it sure does link you to a sizeable legion of otherworldly beings beings who right now need her gifts in their time of crisis. Unfortunately, there are others of their kind who seek to use Lynn's abilities to guarantee anarchy ensues.
Would you agreed to help these outsiders, these earthbound Angels, knowing that doing so could put not only yourself—but possibly everyone you love, in danger? Are the risks worth the gains, worth the benefit of their protection? What if those who you aid today become the saviors you end up needing in the not so distant future?
This novel, like the others in succession, is not a standalone story.
Book 5, Haven Lost, is the next in The Guard Trilogy Extended Series - The Guards of Haven. Although the original three books of The Guard Trilogy can stand alone as a complete story, and even though these next novels adhere to the original storyline, listeners should complete the trilogy before going on to listen to the next books in the extended series.

While the common belief is that “body horror” as a subgenre of horror fiction dates back to the 1970s, Joyce Carol Oates suggests that Medusa, the snakehaired gorgon in Greek mythology, is the “quintessential emblem of female body horror.” In A Darker Shade of Noir: New Stories of Body Horror by Women Writers, Oates has assembled a spectacular cast to explore this subgenre focusing on distortions to the human body in the most fascinating of ways.
