Programmed By Weather is a collection of poems and lyrics based around the themes of living as a misanthrope and the illusion of reality. The author is the singer songwriter for the band Guiltfilter and has also released an accompanying 4-rack solo EP.. The titles are taken from songs and poetry written between 2010 to 2019.

The poems of this book are filled with explicit and unsettling imagery, depicting with intensity everyday subjects filled with love, loss, and death. These compositions were written to express my melancholic feelings. I had not intended to write a book as such, yet these composures resonated with people, and thus the idea of A Poets Ache was birthed. I strive to take you as the reader away, if only momentarily, with my fantasies of love and adventure. But I also wish to make you understand a greater feeling of despair - as my journeys throughout life have intertwined with these compositions. In my struggles to find contemporary scriptures relating to myself, I composed these for not only I, the writer, but anyone who needs to connect to something a little more. These poems are from my heart. Attached are original writings and artworks that were within my journals. A short poem like a picture can paint a thousand words - all we must do is allow ourselves to become part of it. I personally find myself reading more poetry than novels or stories.Voir livre

"Chattering at School" is a series of animal poems that invites the reader to learn and marvel at all the wonders of the natural world. The poems include fun narratives on the surface, while containing learning and teaching moments as the poems unfold. The book has lovely illustrations and is full of moral lessons.The introduction to "Chattering at School: Nature poems for children" explains that these poems were written by a schoolboy aged 11 to 18 (1951-58) during his annual summer holiday visits to his grandmother on her small farm in Ireland. She had been his carer and guardian from the time of the German Blitz of London where he was born, and lived with her until the war ended in 1945. He then returned to his unknown parents, who had been unable to visit him in Ireland from the UK during the war.Over 60 years later, the author of these poems - Edward Forde Hickey - discovered them (his own schoolboy attempts at writing poetry) lying in the attic and felt they were worth recording publicly.Voir livre
