Beschreibung

Latin America's political and cultural upheavals in recent years are in large measure attributable to a flourishing renaissance of knowledge production and innovation – intellectual, cultural, literary, grassroots, and artistic projects that have exploded from a multiplicity of social settings and in new media, new movements, and new political expressions.
Rethinking Intellectuals in Latin America captures unfolding processes and cultural politics through a comparative lens examining both historical precursors and contemporary dynamics. This work offers an interdisciplinary tour de force, combining perspectives from history, literature, anthropology, linguistics, politics, and law, and will be an indispensable source for those who want to capture – in all of its plural complexity – the past and the future of cultural and intellectual shifts transforming the Americas.

This is a combo of several books, which are:
1: Josef Mengele - Fiction books have been written about him. Documentaries have revealed the horrors he executed on innocent victims in concentration camps in Poland. Meet Dr. Josef Mengele, a man with a twisted mind who had no compassion for the subjects he experimented on. His methods were cruel. His conclusions were inconclusive, and his sadism hardly knew any boundaries.
2: Adolf Eichmann - You thought Adolf Hitler was bad. Well, someone who was less fortunate with power and control but equally sadistic was one of his slightly lower officers: Adolf Eichmann, the man who was in charge of many of the Holocaust deportations. In this book, you will learn more about the life of Eichmann, someone who had been slowly getting used to the idea that supposedly, the Jews were inferior and were allegedly a problem for the German civilization.
3: Paul Goebbels - There are doers and there are preachers. The people who were executing orders or abusing people in World War 2 wouldn’t have been able to commit any atrocities if the country hadn’t warmed up to an inhumane narrative. That’s where propaganda came in. Propaganda has long been part of various countries and societies to make the population believe something, and to find culprits, create feelings of animosity, and glorify local leaders or military campaigns.
4: Rudolf Hoess - We’ve all had our humble beginnings, and we seemed so innocent as children. However, for some people, given their childhood and circumstances, and then the political or war-driven environment they face, it goes completely wrong. Such was the case for Rudolf Hoess, a cruel, murderous Nazi commander who had been brainwashed by the system that justified his aid in exterminating millions of Jews.

Jim Lindsay's The Sniper reveals, for the first time ever, the full story of the deadliest sniper in Marine Corps history, Chuck Mawhinney, who served in the Vietnam war at age 18—written with his full cooperation and participation.Charles "Chuck" Mawhinney is a United States Marine who holds the Corps' record for the most confirmed sniper kills (and the second most of any US service member in history), having recorded 103 confirmed kills in 16 months during the Vietnam War. He was also the youngest—killing the enemy as a teenager. In 1967, at the age of 18, Mawhinney joined the Marines and began his assent from recruit to the Marine Corps’ deadliest sniper. During his tours—in one of the most dangerous war zones of Vietnam—his character and charisma helped him deal with life and death in a hell hole with other young men a long way from home. After Vietnam, Mawhinney married and settled into his post-war life, raised a family, and was content that no one knew of his accomplishments in war. Then in 1991 he was startled and dismayed when outed by a fellow Marine sniper, Joseph Ward, who spoke of Mawhinney’s number of kills in his book, Dear Mom. Newspapers picked up the story and Mawhinney’s life changed forever. The notoriety troubled him at first, but then he accepted the fame and used the opportunity to train service men and lawmen in the art of long-distance shooting. At last, Chuck's full story is told, including his heroic exploits in battle and the terrible toll that taking a life exerts on a human being.A Macmillan Audio production from St. Martin’s Press.

What if the world doesn’t have to be this way?
The Philosophy opens with the most human of questions—“What’s the point?”—and dares to follow it wherever it leads. This isn’t just another thought experiment or self-help book. It’s a rallying cry for those who feel the systems around us are broken, yet refuse to believe we are powerless to change them.
In a world driven by competition, inequality, and disconnection, The Philosophy is your invitation to radically rethink the game. With bold, practical strategies inspired by transformative ideas like Doughnut Economics and the empowering spirit of The Secret, Alex Kain delivers a deeply personal yet universal exploration of how we can build a society rooted in justice, equity, and shared well-being—not someday, but starting now.
Why You Can’t Afford to Miss This Opportunity
    - It demystifies systemic failure—revealing how poverty, homelessness, and inequality aren’t inevitable but solvable when we treat root causes, not just symptoms.
    - It reawakens agency—offering a counter-narrative to helplessness by showing how you can contribute meaningfully to lasting social transformation.
    - It inspires collective ambition—moving beyond personal success to challenge how we measure value, power, and impact in our communities.
    - It’s not just a book—it’s a blueprint for anyone who wants to live with purpose and be part of something bigger than themselves.
This is a manifesto for the change-makers, the questioners, the quietly dissatisfied, and the fiercely hopeful. The Philosophy hands you the lens—and the tools—to see and shape a more humane future.
It serves as a harbinger of what is possible if we choose the road less travelled vs continuing to stay the course. Moreover, The Philosophy is an opportunity for us to uncover the world we want to gift to the future.
What kind of world will you help create?
